jasonnab,

Is there any tool to download public posts and retoots and reply toots of an inactive Mastodon account? I forgot to backup my posts before migrating, and I don't know a method that doesn't involve disabling inactivity on the account (and not sure what that will do).

simonzerafa,

@jasonnab

Would the admin have tools or the ability to do this?

Perhaps @jerry or @nova might be able to give an idea if an inactive account can be exported by an admin? 🙂

jerry,

@simonzerafa @jasonnab @nova I haven’t tried it, but try adding “.rss” to the end of the link to the old account, and with luck, you’ll get an rss formatted feed of posts/boosts in an xml format

Useful tip! 🙂

I was wondering though if admins had access to any user data export type options over and above what we can do for ourselves.

jerry,

@simonzerafa @jasonnab @nova unfortunately no. It is, of course, possible to write and run an sql query in the database to get the info.

Cool. I assumed that would be possible but I wondered if that might have been automated for admins.

Artisanal hand made SQL queries are a bit much to ask from a busy admin 😉
