Testing out OVH Cold Archive (LTO tape backed)
11.02TB stored came out to ~$23 post-tax.
This data is immutable and cannot be accessed or deleted without recovery, plus requires a 180 day minimum storage time (if you delete it before then you are charge the remaining time).
Comparing to Scaleway C14, this is definitely more affordable for the same amount of data, but is however less flexible; C14 has no min-time and is easier to restore and push to. #Datahoarder#OVH#Scaleway#S3#LTO
Utterly stumped on solving this drive mount issue. Other drives have resized without issue, no lost files or mangled hashsums, but this one particular drive is giving me trouble... and nothing online gives a conclusive answer...
Seems the #brother FTP server is dead... which took a LOT of old manuals with it. Not sure HOW long it's been gone, but it's certainly not on archive.org...
ftp://ftp.brother.ca/
Does anyone have archives or manual downloads from there?
Looking fruitlessly for this one in particular.

Some folks on mastodon delete posts after a period, sometimes for privacy sometimes to save server space.
Is there a nice way to download a thread/archive it?
I don’t want to distribute them, I think there’s two cases:
1 I like having an archive of stuff I’ve said so I can look at it years later.
2 people have good advice/essays and I’d like to read them in the future.
I've been thinking of switching from Sync to pCloud - mainly to consolidate my family's separate cloud storage and to serve as a good home for video materials for projects.
The 10TB Family plan is a steep up-front, but seems worthwhile.
Anyone have issues with it? Anyone love it? Thoughts?
Google zieht gerade die Daumenschrauben an bei den ursprünglich unlimitierten Firmenaccounts. Habt ihr eine Alternative für ~10-15 TB verschlüsselte Backups?
Wow, hosting your own #fediverse instance fills up disk space fast! Almost 50GB since yesterday! Good thing I have like 32TB of raw storage in my array. :D
@Ohio As best I can tell: a "post" is actually not a post, it's more like a tweet (or toot) or whatever. All the other fediverse things like lemmy or mastodon will also be able to view it. I think this will be seen by all the other platforms as a tweet/toot "how does this website work? #DataHoarder"
Creating a thread would be the equivalent of an old school discussion board (or reddit) post.

Is there any tool to download public posts and retoots and reply toots of an inactive Mastodon account? I forgot to backup my posts before migrating, and I don't know a method that doesn't involve disabling inactivity on the account (and not sure what that will do).
