I have a feeling that it was always 'sneaked' and then 'snuck' crept in as a jokey folksy past tense of sneak??
@breadandcircuses Snuck always and forever. Sneaked is an abomination, but I suspect it's what people feel is proper English. I also despise 'hanged' even if it's some old-tyme lawspeak. Hung, full stop.
@breadandcircuses I use both actually. I use ‘snuck’ as a possessive form of sneak (ex. I snuck through the house) and I use ‘sneaked’ when talking about someone else (ex. They sneaked through the house). I know that’s batshit haha. I also alternate how I pronounce words like ‘lever’. It’s terrible
