Christianity does not have the right to decide for everyone else what is acceptable clothing, social or sexual relationships, culture, beliefs, or lifestyle.

Christianity only has the right to tell their own cult members what to do or not do.

Legislating religious beliefs is unconstitutional, period.

Legislating christian religious beliefs about abortion, lgbtq, women's rights, or anything else is a violation of my 1st amendment right to freedom of religious practice.

It is also a violation of the UN Charter of Human Rights - especially prohibitions against forced pregnancy.

No theocracy in America.

Dogzilla,

@shekinahcancook Christianity didn’t have a particularly good track record of coexisting with other religions for a long time before the US even existed

@shekinahcancook It's worth pointing out that the "religious freedom" that America's "Pilgrim Fathers" were seeking when they left Europe was the freedom to be mean to other Christian groups.

@terryb

I know. And it's grimly hilarious to me that evangelicals have helped to put all these catholic judges and legislators into power, apparently ignorant of the fact that the only thing catholics hate more than POC and women's rights is...protestants. Whose religion do they think is going to be legislated, exactly? Not theirs.

reallyflygreg,

@shekinahcancook should a religion even have the "right" to tell its own members what to do? That gives a lot of power to people who don't always have the best motives over the minds and bodies of others. Plus they're backed up by the idea of an omnipotent and omniscient "god" so members are terrified to defy any dictates from leaders whether they make sense or not. People often internalize their religious ideology and then enforce it on other members, children included.

The Establishment Clause of the First Amendment essentially says the government will not promote the doctrine, ideology, or agenda of any religion.

Yet republicans are in direct violation of separation of church and state. They not only promote the doctrine, ideology and pro-life agenda of religious evangelists, but they take their money to fund their party.
