matt,

If I were to dig out my old Raspberry Pi model B+ (the original, with the oddball ARMv6-based processor) and offer to ship it free of charge anywhere in the continental US, would anyone be able to do anything useful with it? It's been sitting unused for maybe 8 years. Maybe I could do something with it myself, but then, I haven't in 8 years.

kevinrj,

@matt @jaybird110127 Hey, does it have wifi? I don’t know the b+ model

@matt I’ve got one of that exact model, and was able to get retro-pi running on it. It can handle the NES games pretty well.

matt,

@N3VEM I'm having trouble finding a project page for retro-pi, so I'm not sure what exactly it is. But I guess I might play with getting my old Pi to boot straight into MAME, so I can use it to play with Apple II emulation.

@matt retro-pi is basically an old console emulator to play old video games - it’s actually just one of the default images available in the raspberry pi imager.

@matt I gave my 3b away years ago, and I’ve got a 4 that I boot up every couple of months for desktop use.

matt,

@becomingwisest I still have a 3B somewhere in my apartment as well. And a TinkerBoard, and maybe still a Wandboard.
