@ElleGray @paul_ipv6 my mom’s a microbiologist, and the joke in the family is that chicken stir fry for dinner was burnt chicken because it got cooked so long. (Mostly because we distracted her while cooking, or she was otherwise multitasking)

@CRBClassical when I used to listen to the radio in the car, I took a station off because at this time it would be constant Christmas music.

But also, I might pull up https://v4.hos.com/programs/holidays/15/list on the 25th for some music to be in the background.

This book about how Naomi Wolf kept getting mixed up with Klein (it’s by Klein Shock Doctrine lady not creepy podcaster) is pretty good so far. it’s called Doppelgänger. It’s also funny at times which is about what I need this fall for after work reading.

@futurebird reminds me of middles school. Another Chris and I in the same class, E. And F. as last name initials, so our names were next to each other. We were both bad at turning in homework, so there would be times I got his paper back when I hadn’t done the work, and others he’s get mine.

My keyboard is dying and so I have a Moonlander coming now. I'm amused that the one feature that pushed it over the edge for me is "you can configure left/right shift taps to map to open/close parens.

"oooh it's a lisp keyboard, why didn't you say so, I do want one of those!"

@danderson I’ve customized my Dvorak layout, to include parens keys.

I like mine a lot, and will probably buy a second one to act as a backup. I don’t want to go back to the old ways.

If I were to dig out my old Raspberry Pi model B+ (the original, with the oddball ARMv6-based processor) and offer to ship it free of charge anywhere in the continental US, would anyone be able to do anything useful with it? It's been sitting unused for maybe 8 years. Maybe I could do something with it myself, but then, I haven't in 8 years.

    Micro horror:

    A historian notices that obscure old photos they have been scanning from original magazine and photo collections show signs of being AI generated (the kind of uncanny errors that give such images away, but these are chemical photos from long before computers)

    At first it's just a few images in the oldest collection, but each day it seems to spread.

    No one believes her of course.
