Of all the Twitter features intentionally omitted here, I have to hand it to them on one in particular: that you can't directly monitor someone's faves.
@wjmaggos@misc when I click the hamburger, I get a new column that looks like this. When I click the Favorites there [now spelled in the American manner, I noticed recently!] the full list of everything I've faved is there.
Even as things stand, I find myself bookmarking rather than faving certain posts, lest it be spotted and I be unwillingly assigned a side in some ongoing conflict.
@jonathankoren Same, just with Readwise Reader. But I wish that loop was much tighter. I have to bookmark so that when I read later I can find the referring post. And still that's not reliable. The integration these services had with twitter is so much nicer. (also fwiw I'm talking about non link posts too)
@misc I seems the same level of integration with safari and Firefox to me. Maybe Im missing something.
I’ll end up saving the link to the first post in a thread and tag it “thread”. I also save posts with cool pics, but tag it, “t” (no deep meaning) and then use a script to go through and save the pic. But I havent updated my scripts to work with mastodon.

@misc Hell No, but it’s the worst thing when you have to tell new people not to use it bc it doesn’t even have the most basic functions like giving you an indicator that you got a reply/fav whatever.

All the talk about the “mastodonon is not engagement junkie platform we are better than that” and in the same sentence there’s the “I get much better engagement here from fewer followers (NOT that I check follower count, no no, just accidentally seen it we should hide it from everyone, no exceptions!!!)

@boby_biq Like, the affordances* do shape behavior. This stuff is addictive. BlueSky is a mess of quote dunks. (Why isn't Threads? Worth investigating!) *I think this may be my first time using "affordances" in a sentence, feeling special ☺️
@misc Well, maybe that Threads didn’t start with a fucking “hellthread”, didn’t it? It was not specifically started like some purge party, and had way more people all at once not just the “elite few” invite only.
Also, insta tools are good. Even when it was total chaos, it was insta people, celebs and cute design decisions.
@boby_biq I know you didn't mean it that way, and also I'm not sure if the cultural reach of stupid American politics is such that you will get the reference (I will be happy for different reasons either way) but you asking me to fave made me think of this classic Jeb Bush moment. As for QTs though... can you elaborate?
@misc exactly what I use Raindrop and Readwise for. Raindrop for individual toots where I’m not concerned about reading something, but simply wanted to save it. And Readwise for toot threads.
