@arstechnica So first Hyundai's gas cars are at risk of catching fire, then their EVs, and now a flaw in their ABS system causes more fires. I'm not sure how people have faith in this brand to keep them safe.

@arstechnica Those look like extremely cheap o-rings. The kinds you use for things like keyboard keycap dampening rather than the kinds that go into a high pressure, high performance line...

I had a 2005? Honda Accord that had what amounted to a 2" diameter rubber stopper in the valve cover.

Due to poor design, the lip that was supposed to hold it firmly in place, didn't.
It could literally be lifted (or fall) right out, causing the valves to splash motor oil out the hole, resulting in either running out of oil, or the spilled oil catching fire on the exhaust manifold.

Honda's solution was to add a little metal bracket to hold the stopper in place.

@arstechnica Appreciate the article but not the tone in this paragraph.

Kind of shows you've an agenda (similar to what you're accusing others of having)

In addition, to me, the more useful metric is the ratio of ICE fires v ICE cars on the road and EV fires v EV cars on the road.

If I have an EV or ICE car what is the change of it catching fire.
