Joyce Vance: “This is a five-alarm fire. We know what the reaction would be if Joe tweeted a photo of a bound and gagged Donald in the trunk of an electric car. Why does Donald Trump get more leeway, especially with his past history? He only continues to get it because our institutions—the courts, the Republican party—let him take it.”

@GottaLaff After reading Carol Leonnig’s Zero Fail, I’m not surprised the Secret Service hasn’t got involved: I’m sure the author intended otherwise, but I was struck by how misogynistic, and full of toxic masculinity the organization is. Trump would be their type of guy.

Perhaps an unpopular statement, but not everyone who owns a house in is rich. There are a good number of “house poor” people who while they may own a house, are living on a fixed income, are an elderly senior etc. and can’t maintain the property. I’ll bet there are ways to integrate the house poor into housing solutions (more multi-generational housing, downsizing on place, allowing city-subsidized micro-housing units in back yards etc.). 1/2

CAWguy,
@CAWguy@mstdn.ca avatar

@Jgmeadows I received a bit of pushback here when I made the long ago comment on my dislike of property taxes: they have no relation with the ability to pay, nor services rendered. I’d much prefer higher wealth/income taxes, or some other method that doesn’t force seniors out of their homes, and even communities, in order to maintain shelter.

They are consistently not showing the parts of Trump’s speeches & interviews where his eyes go blank, his jaw goes slack, he looks confused, & slurs words, uses non-words, can't finish a sentence, rambles, perseverates, confabulates & babbles incoherently. How long does it take you to plan a trip?

    I've jumped in the car before, and just drove to Niagara Falls, but that's rare as I get older.

    I pre-plan trips (even short ones) up to a year before I take them (or maybe don't ever take them)
    I travel with cats, so cat-friendly (not pet friendly) motels must be found, areas of interest along the way and people we might meet or visit. Cost of gas, budget.. It's extensive preparation.

    Ontario PCs Have Raked In $30K From Big Nursing Home Lobbyists

    TORONTO — Premier Doug Ford’s Progressive Conservative party has received at least $30,833 in donations from lobbyists hired by the private nursing home industry, a HuffPost Canada analysis has found.
    In addition to being donors, those lobbyists have all also worked for Ford, his party, people in his government or past PC governments.

    Hey 'Blue' Rural Ontario,

    In an attempt to cover up the severe school bus driver shortage ? and "save taxpayers $", the Conservatives are cutting school bus eligibility.

    Gr 9-12: Must live over 3.2km (doubled)
    Gr 4-8: >1.6km
    Gr 1-3: >1.6km (doubled)
    Kindergarten: >800m (doubled)

    🤯 In addition, funding will NOT be provided for students who no longer meet their grade distance qualification.. even if their younger siblings do.
