@evan the thing that finally bumped me from an android phone to iPhone was my old OnePlus announcing a system upgrade. I accepted it … and lost critical stuff like NFC, mobile data and gesture navigation for over a month. I’m a bit more wary now!
@evan
Not sure I well answered : when my computer or smartphone asks me if I want to set up and activate automatic system or apps update, I never authorize it.
But when it prompts for updates / upgrades available, I always launch them - immediately or short after (with a backup in case of major version upgrade) !
@evan I usually insist that it tell me first. I would rather feel that it was a real decision on my part, but to be perfectly honest, I'm rarely able to even give the energy for the most basic assessment.
@evan I'll always update, but I chose often since sometimes I'll need to move the automated update to later in the day If I'm currently using the device.
@evan Device dependent and dependent on the nature of the update. Critical security patches are pretty much always. Software I’ll usually update although in some cases I'll be making sure it doesn't affect some critical part of my work. Of course part of my work is being ahead on the updates so we can figure out if they'll break anything for our users. :)
