Hey there... Thanks to someone here, I've decided to setup a masto.host instance. Probably not going to be here long... I do need to sort some stuff out...

This profile is from a federated server and may be incomplete. Browse more on the original instance.

AMAZING FACTS

Your homebrew filament dryer can also be used to dehydrate food if you didn’t homebrew it too much!

( xD )

(I want to make a particular kind of spinach feta bread but I have to dry a bunch of spinach first ^_^ )

jigmedatse,
@jigmedatse@social.jigmedatse.com avatar

@moira I've never used my filament drier for drying filament... I'm just such a loser I guess... Using it for drying food and all.

Around the world, people are experiencing the once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon of a brilliant aurora display, as massive doses of solar radiation bombard the atmosphere turning it into gigantic radioactive florescent lights (nothing to see down here in L.A. though this evening, and city lights make it even less likely). Enjoy the show!

BUT REMEMBER THIS, DEAR FRIENDS!

In the 1963 horror/sci-fi classic "The Day of the Triffids", a lengthy, once-in-a-lifetime spectacular display of massive glowing meteor showers lasts long enough for the entire planet to see it at night. Everyone able to do so was urged to see this wonder!

The next morning, everyone who had viewed the amazing display was blind. And then the giant mobile man-eating plants that had arrived with the meteors, spread across the Earth.

ENJOY!

@jigmedatse@social.jigmedatse.com avatar

@lauren The giant man eating plants were engineered years, maybe decades earlier. Though, no one really knew about them.

Tazzy's gone and done something to her left hind leg/foot. She can't put any significant weight on it. She has been managing to do enough, but poor pupper isn't letting me know what hurts, and helping me figure out if something can be done.

texas has so many places named "major"

jigmedatse,
@jigmedatse@social.jigmedatse.com avatar

@moira I'm not surprised about that... (that Texas would call a lot of places Major, or that things would appear like this on any app that might have Texas government funding).

this is a PSA to buy a box fan and furnace filter for this year's inevitable summer smoke before they run out

I've got a particulate sensor and these things are remarkably effective and far cheaper than a dedicated air purifier

jigmedatse,
@jigmedatse@social.jigmedatse.com avatar

@jenbanim Not sure why, but I think it's because with more filters, it reduces airflow less, so it's preferable to build a box of filters.

Regardless of where we're from and in which social medias we're active, it has been crystal clear that the mainstream social medias have been closely associated with politics. More than most people would like, indeed. When there's data of many people there's profit for the owners

jigmedatse,
@jigmedatse@social.jigmedatse.com avatar

@silentbeauties Yeah, for whatever reason... I've been having "one of those days..." I don't think I've been dumping too much unhealthy criticism, but mentally just want to curl up... Mind you... Snow on April 29th is possibly part of it.

jigmedatse,
@jigmedatse@social.jigmedatse.com avatar

@silentbeauties A month ago (roughly I think about 6 weeks ago) in Europe, they were getting 30°C type temperatures... Which my suspicion would normally be more like 15°C.

I was enjoying the weather, but it was getting dry and allergy stimulating, then we got a period of rain (good quality stuff, not excessive) and it's been nicer that I have been less itchy, but it's too cool/wet to go out for much.

jigmedatse,
@jigmedatse@social.jigmedatse.com avatar

@silentbeauties I've heard that diesel fumes increase the "availability" of the pollen. But I think maybe the weather is resulting in changes and increases in pollen production.

jigmedatse,
@jigmedatse@social.jigmedatse.com avatar

@silentbeauties I've heard various research, but I couldn't put my thumb on any of it without spending significant time on Google Scholar. Which might be worth it, just not sure I am likely to accomplish it soon.

jigmedatse,
@jigmedatse@social.jigmedatse.com avatar

@silentbeauties Also, so much of the research you can't see unless you pay pretty high fees. Or your school/work pays them.

jigmedatse,
@jigmedatse@social.jigmedatse.com avatar

@silentbeauties When I ran into not being able to read (I was getting through like 1 book if I was lucky in about 9 weeks) what really changed for me, was finding stuff that was easy enough/short enough that it was possible to finish much quicker. Now some of the stuff I'm reading for fun is... Distinctly not fun to most people...

jigmedatse,
@jigmedatse@social.jigmedatse.com avatar

@silentbeauties Oh, the just reading a few minutes at a time is a good thing too. I know that with books, I have given myself permission to just read 2 pages. If I have to go back to re-read? sure I can do that. This is with print books. On the Kindle, as only one page displays a single page is good too.

jigmedatse,
@jigmedatse@social.jigmedatse.com avatar

@silentbeauties Yeah, that can be a tricky thing in a way. Not like a complaint, but you want to do 10 different things, and really only have time to do 3 of them...

jigmedatse,
@jigmedatse@social.jigmedatse.com avatar

@silentbeauties I find physical writing down of stuff really does help. I've just not figured out a way to do so consistently.

jigmedatse,
@jigmedatse@social.jigmedatse.com avatar

@silentbeauties Oh, I've heard (though I'm not sure I believe it) if you write more, you can improve the writing. My sense of writing stuff though, is if I'm going to need to know what it says in more than a few days, I better either take extra care, or use a computer for it.

jigmedatse,
@jigmedatse@social.jigmedatse.com avatar

@silentbeauties I heard that it was really hot in Mexico I think, which might be the same weather system. The weather here is decent. It was quite warm here about 23°C I think. Still cool at night. Had some major technical problems with the mail server. Got it sorted, but it's tough when it's not working even for a few hours, and not sure how to get it back up.

jigmedatse,
@jigmedatse@social.jigmedatse.com avatar

@silentbeauties Yeah, this was problems that started with me noticing that mail from PayPal wasn't getting in, then seeing I had stuff such that it was receiving to one directory, then moving to the one that I knew I had space in. I shouldn't have had so little space to begin with. But still, frustrating problem. And it got more frustrating along the way. And I've got a whole different problem I've not looked at with that right now.

jigmedatse,
@jigmedatse@social.jigmedatse.com avatar

@silentbeauties The new issues, are about new stuff... So I can possibly forget about it, or get it properly set up. I've been thinking of creating an announcement and possibly discussion list for the parties.

jigmedatse,
@jigmedatse@social.jigmedatse.com avatar

@silentbeauties They're "sort of causing problems" in the I keep getting notifications that things aren't working. But that means when I get the time to look at it, I won't have forgotten I was going to do that.

Hi, folks! I hope everyone is fine and having a great time. Now I'll talk about the prospective ban of that famous video platform from the USA. Are you an American content creator there? I'll give my opinion about this controversy.

jigmedatse,
@jigmedatse@social.jigmedatse.com avatar

@silentbeauties Yeah, it's just that Xitter, is doing more and more to make one wonder just why it's being run that way.

jigmedatse,
@jigmedatse@social.jigmedatse.com avatar

@silentbeauties I feel the bot accounts which were supposed to be purged ended up getting anything more than words, and in the end increased absolute numbers. And a lot of people who might be cross posting, and not really engaging, or people flat out leaving. The bots don't care if there's no one there.

jigmedatse,
@jigmedatse@social.jigmedatse.com avatar

@silentbeauties Is there a "download archive" option available on Twitter?

jigmedatse,
@jigmedatse@social.jigmedatse.com avatar

@silentbeauties Better than nothing, though sometimes that's not exactly true, because going through manually, may allow you to get it in a format that works. Though it would be better than if the options just went away for you.

jigmedatse,
@jigmedatse@social.jigmedatse.com avatar

@silentbeauties I'm not sure if that works that well, but I have used that when context and possibly is relevant. I'd rather store the text, as text.
