@Em0nM4stodon I'm unlikely to delete Twitter completely, because (a) I visit to encourage friends to move to Mastodon, (b) I may want to revisit my history, and (c) complete deletion allows trolls to take over your name and pose as you.
@Em0nM4stodon For me it's the fact that Twitter doesn't actually exist anymore. It's been completely dismantled and folded into Musk's other companies. It's essentially dead, it's just a chicken running around not knowing yet. Which I think is a tragedy myself but I just didn't see the point of being there anymore.
@Em0nM4stodon The main reason for not deleting my Twitter account is that then someone else can get my old handle and impersonate me. I have however deleted most of my tweets going back to 2009 and I unfollow accounts every time I visit (which isn't often, these days)
@Em0nM4stodon at the moment, I don’t plan on deleting my account, as I don’t want the username reused by someone else. And having an extra account on the platform is another +1 when it comes to compliance with laws based on user numbers. So, for now, I prefer to keep it but not use it, than delete it.
@neil@Em0nM4stodon I dont think compliance is ever going to be the issue even if most cis-adjacent or other groups of privileged people leave it. There are enough nazis to fill that site with and keep it compliant with the law, whatever that may be.

Agreed. I'm not going back there (well, maybe if Alan switches everything to ActivityPub).
But I see no reason to permanently delete my history. I stand by (most) of what I said and did there - and I often refer back to old conversations.
