@georgetakei he had an opportunity to publicly decline the offer and make a powerful statement, he chose otherwise. He could still make a statement, but it seems doubtful he will.
I've disowned him. He's out on his own now. Not a Liverpool hero anymore, he tarnished his legacy with his massive hipocrisy, and his heinous tacit support football-washing on behalf of the monstrous head chopping monarchs of Saudi Arabia.
@georgetakei I’ve declined good job offers from horrible companies. Never for $15,000,000, but I don’t think any money could reconcile me to working for Saudi Arabia’s rulers.
@georgetakei Liverpool would have kept him on for a couple more seasons so it was definitely about the money. Good luck to him but he should stop the tap dancing and own up to it.
@georgetakei Desperately disappointed in him. He was one of my favorite #LFC players of the recent generation and he captained us to win everything. I'm sure he truly believes he still has the same values but it's inexcusable IMO to do what he's done if he really held those values.
@georgetakei As a long-time Liverpool supported and a big fan of Henderson in particular, I was desperately disappointed by this. Some say it's his decision and no-one else's, but he'd made such a major step into various liberal causes, making himself professional soccer's spokesman for feminism, anti-racism, gay rights, etc. Having done all that, he's now set fire to it all, leaving us wondering if he ever meant any of it. So sad.
@georgetakei depends if he's actively promoting 🏳️🌈 freedoms & reforms while he's there, or JUST resting on his laurels as a FORMERLY outspoken ally to be a very minor burr under their saddle.
@georgetakei Sold out his “values”. I have no respect for him, unless he does something like wear a rainbow armband to make a point. In which case, I will give him due respect.

@georgetakei You can tell he doesn’t have any Muslim friends or been around their families. Like I have one friend, loves to give hugs. But if you’re around her mom and brothers, you’re not getting a hug and she’ll be slightly stand-off ish, if you’re a male. Women, pfft huh fest. She’s also very progressive, but won’t say anything if her brothers make a homophobic comment. Family and culture mean everything to them and they will not jeaporidze it.
@georgetakei there isn’t a single out player in the English Premier League so it’s hardly a shining example of tolerance. But yes the decision to play in Saudi doesn’t sit well.
@georgetakei if he did not sign up someone other would may have taken it. I think soccer in general is weird an starts to get a prestige/political thing. If he invests the money for good causes i think it was good that he was chosen (from people that may should not have the money). If he uses the money only for his personal gain that would be sad and capitalistic.
I dont know anything else about him so i dont know how serious you should take me.
