@danciruli @TheBreadmonkey Actually, I always do, but if it resembles an existing hashtag on my phone, Mastodon will always helpfully show me the hashtag IN LOWER CASE and I can't get rid of it until I actually edit the toot again. And breathe.

Surely they've hit terminal velocity now - anyone still using Twitter is basically going to continue using it even if Elon Musk goes round their house, kills their pets and leaves a poo in their beds, they'll just say "Oh, this is not on. I am really cross about this. 😡", then just carry on using it until they die.

@TheBreadmonkey That I do get - a few reasons:

• means people can’t navigate to the original post to engage directly (without searching for the post themselves, of course)
• the OP doesn’t get notified
• worse for accessibility if no alt text

Better to link to the post and for clients to display them properly, expanding them with a link preview of sorts.
