Why are elevators so deceptively complex? Simulating one little elevator is horrible.

@futurebird I feel like there's a bell curve with elevator simulation complexity relative to how realistic the simulation is.

Simple video game elevator: Small room that only the player can enter. Player can select which floor the exit door points to.

Ideal/abstract elevator: Seems like it should take five minutes to outline and then somehow you fall down a Complicated Math vortex.

Highly realistic elevator: Door that doesn't open, with a faded, handwritten "Please Use Stairs" sign taped on.

@futurebird I hate colliders. (It me, project-managing a train station where the elevators, which only have two levels, are the biggest technical stumbling block.)

@futurebird Because they serve humans and humans are weird.

@futurebird I think an elevator was one of the projects/examples during my object oriented design programming class.

@futurebird I don’t know the answer to your question, but I feel compelled to share this video with you. I learned way more than I need to know about elevators. https://youtu.be/fj-VlvoB8tw
