the thing that bugs me about superheroes and the fandom is that the real world could really use beings like that but they don't exist. secondly, superheroes trivialize the accomplishments of ordinary people, they're supposed to be idolized but really they just demoralize, patronize disempower and create dependency all while being celebrated it's kind of sick. modern television has explored these subversive themes a bit though so that's something i guess.

Superheroes really do belong in comics and animation
The other thing, as you said, is they don't exist. So you watch Superman and he's never stopping war by obliterating armies - because then Superman would have to be overtly political and the writers would have to learn a bit of history or take sides. So Superman is weirdly pro-war, never really solving real problems
@lydiaconwell@neotoy Superman is the personification of the belief that violence "in the right hands" can solve problems. Kind of like an NRA advertisement.
