@lydiaconwell@mas.to

Writer or artist or something. Probably nothing. - London.

If you want to know the main theme of this account ... I generally like to critique things. I usually critique art, books, TV, Movies, etc. And quite often I'm interested story structure and logic. I guess that's my USP or something.

I post either on the Fediverse or on my #PsychicDrool blog.

I love avant-garde stuff, love noisy music. I'm currently into John Coltrane. Got shit I've written on Smashwords.

This profile is from a federated server and may be incomplete. Browse more on the original instance.

I'm migrating to exile.social folks!

Expect all the same shit, just from a different instance!

lydiaconwell,
@lydiaconwell@mas.to avatar

@mxtthxw No, but they're probably going to federate with Threads. The only reason they've blocked is to be cautious over how the Fediverse will handle the traffic.

@mrbitterness told me this instance was the cool gang where all the cool people hang out, so I decided to join.

While, cleaning my (still a bit) sticky keyboard with my finger I typed this:

lydiaconwell,
@lydiaconwell@mas.to avatar

I was typing one handed this morning because I was using my other hand to feed breakfast into my mouth and, boy, is typing one handed slow!

Some people actually type like that, or with just two fingers or something!

I think typing on your phone is a bit quicker (but also annoyingly slow) because you get predictive words.

Anyway, this was typed using two hands.

@lydiaconwell@mas.to avatar

Yeah, but ...

My current instance has only blocked #Threads because of being cautious over how the #Fediverse will handle the traffic.

Not because #Meta are shitty #genocide enablers.

I guess that's what you get when you go with a more general instance.

Afternoon spent at the doc's office for my wife. She fell and hit her side. Nothing broken but boy is she sore! 4 meds to control the pain $$$ and she'll be fine in a few weeks.

My caught a mouse this morning.

He had it in his beak and everything.

But he put it down on some packaging paper to play with it and the mouse did a Houdini trick and disappeared.

I had another horrible nightmare.

There were hordes of people on some zombie drug, they were trying to touch me and be my friend but also threatening me with physical harm.

The cops came and restrained the main person, injected them with a drug to counteract the zombie drug, called Amyloid, but the person took more drugs and got away from the cops.

Ended with me screaming Help! as loud as I could over and over until I was foaming spit out of my mouth.

I woke up heart pounding with spit bubbling out of my mouth.

I woke up shaking and trying not to throw up.
I am calming down but that was terrifying.

Truly a night terror.

Can you join a new instance, move over all your following/followers, but then keep the two instances at the same time?

Or does the moving over thing trigger the ultimate destruction of your whole past existence?

You know, for back up.

lydiaconwell,
@lydiaconwell@mas.to avatar

@pootriarch Yeah, that's it. If you move your followers the old account locks down and links to the new one.

But if you just import the people you're following, then you can have two accounts but those people will have to chose to follow your new account.

That's pretty much what you said, but I'm saying the same thing.

    With the whole thing I think there is generally a fear of missing out that makes people want to go . That's why and remain so popular.

    But to go to, and remain on, part of the whose instances have chosen to opt out would probably make a more enjoyable, meaningful experience.

    Finding people with similar interests is much more fruitful that knowing what some boring celebrity has to say, or to listening to a middling centrist crowd have their say.

    ... I've posted before Lydia Lunch's quote about New York: "No city needs you; you need it."

    Social media too is like this. Sure, they need users en masse, but there's a feeling you can somehow influence and profit from the mass, when in actuality, "you wouldn't raise a whisper on a radar screen."

    I'd prefer to be on an opt-out instance in a niche, so I hope there are instances making themselves known and asking for new members.

    | Murder

    "It is not that people are worried that a claim of genocide will not be successful at the International Court of Justice ...

    The problem is that ... it follows that not only are Netanyahu and hundreds of senior Israeli officials and military personally liable, but it is absolutely plain that “Genocide Joe” Biden, Sunak and members of their administrations are also criminally liable for complicity ..."

    So is the problem a fear of WW3?

    lydiaconwell,
    @lydiaconwell@mas.to avatar

    I mean, basically, it seems:

    That the biggest obstacle in stopping this is countries' fear of standing up to the United States (and to a lesser extent the UK).

    So until the US stops supporting genocide, it will continue.

    I just skimmed over a blog post that said that with joining the there's no point in blocking. They can already scrape your online data, so you're already fucked so basically give up now you asshole.

    But we know the tone is going to change around here. Just like it did when there was a huge influx from Twitter.

    And, yeah, blocking is probably not going to do anything. You'll see the influence through a friend of a friend. So basically, you're already fucked you asshole.

    lydiaconwell,
    @lydiaconwell@mas.to avatar

    @notes Yeah, I think we need to establish a strong opt-out Fediverse presence so people can move to those instances.

    Listening to this of 28 Days Later I'm reminded of the styled hair of one of the characters ... Like where did she get the hair straighteners from?

    There is a scene in where it is revealed Charlie's mother has been in a coma for ten years or something.

    And not only has someone been cutting Charlie's mum's hair, but they've also been dying it a reddish colour.

    Is that a normal thing? idk

    lydiaconwell,
    @lydiaconwell@mas.to avatar

    @josemanuel You should watch that episode because the woman's dyed hair is reddish and her daughter has (also dyed) red hair.
