The savings are attributed to a decrease in emergency situations among homeless persons, such as assaults, injuries, and breakdowns

Learned a new 4 letter word today, which amazed me since I'm no spring chicken and have a huge vocabulary. How had I never seen this word before? I didn't even believe it was real until I looked it up. "Lave" it basically means to wash. Turns out I already knew one derivative "lavage", but not this simple elegant root.

I feel like I could watch those absurd "HeroWars" ads for hours. Every time I'm like "Wut." And can't stop watching. It's like a committee of phone game designers overdosed on DMT, had sex with a demon from Diablo III, and then gave birth to this monstrosity. Really would have liked to have been there for that pitch meeting.

As I hoped before (https://mastodon.social/@65dBnoise/111823379796757059), he said that they are going to first wiggle the rotor and take a movie (!) of the action, and then slowly spin the rotors to bring the other two blades into view that haven't been visible so far and assess their condition.

Of course is also going to come closer and take a better look to the !

I like the premise, but:

  • There's no real barrier to entry here. I expect a ton of cheap knockoffs
  • Where's the security? If I give this device access to my, say, Amazon account, what happens if someone steals it?

Just reminded yet again by my news feed that for anyone obsessed with , bases, human missions to etc. needs to read the complete saga of 2. And also remind yourself that not once in human history has a group of people been able to survive independently in an extremely hospitable isolated environment. It's pure theory that humans can survive without the luxury of an entire planet that caters to their every whim.

So you want to "colonize other planets" sure, sure... Meanwhile while we're waiting to build ships capable of making that dream a reality, do yourself a favor and build Biosphere 3. You should be able to do it right? After all you have an entire world of resources to draw from, it should be a cakewalk compared to an actual mission to another planet. Just think of it as a fun little dry run to show how well you've mastered the forces of nature! You can manage that much, right?

It is VERY funny how academic/career credibility is used constantly as a validity check for all kinds of outlandish claims. This is a statistical filter because on average such people are statistically more credible than others. Yet, renowned and highly successful professionals frequently hold and promote outlandish unfounded ideas, that eventually destroy their reputations and lives.
