I’m definitely not with Netanyahu’s government or killing #Palestinian civilians, but those who are concerned about their deaths should also understand that Hamas really is run by committed #Jihadist religious fanatics. And before you say ”islamophobia”, I beg your pardon, that this is actually a problem for thr Arab world, and Palestinians in particular. Being led by Jihadists is terrible for the people.

And what does Israel think these Palestinian teenagers are going to become in a couple of years?
For every one of their friends killed, two or three will become militants .
@peterbrown Yes. I did say that actually. What is happening now is just going to recruit more Jihadists. Because death of both civilians and combatants is considered a success. It’s a glorious death and will serve as an advertisement for more to join the cause.
I remember when I was 17, 30 years ago, there was a hope for peace. But both sides ended up blaming each other for not taking the deal. As the war came back, Israel’s hope crumbled and they started voting right.
@gimulnautti yes I think we can both agree that is it anything but funny. And as far as I can see the only person that is likely to get any benefit out of this is Netanyahu,  as he is using the whole exercise as an excuse to obliterate the Palestinians in Gaza.  As you say, he needs an enemy, and has been supporting Hamas for many years to produce that enemy.

Settlers and messianic fanatics were such important allies to Netanyahu, that he favoured anyone against peace.
He favoured loyalists, and the army was almost all deployed protecting settlers, even illegal ones. There was almost no-one left at Gaza to stop Hamas
@gimulnautti it is also extremely suspicious that it took so long to call the army in, and indeed, that none of the multiple alerts on the actual wall seemed to be working.
The main beneficiary of the six weeks massacre is Netanyahu as he has always wanted to eject the Palestinians and take over Gaza. Now he is getting his wish and the Palestinians are getting the blame.

@peterbrown Man. The army was literally not there! 37 out of 39 IDF battalions were deployed in the West Bank, protecting the settlers!
Netanyahu’s far-right allies were the ones who needed the army more than the people they should have been protecting. To expand their illegal settlements.
And his cabinet was full of incompetents, because he staffed it based on loyalty, not skill. What warnings he got, he didn’t take seriously. Because sucking up to the man took precedence.
A big part of the answer to #IsraelPalestineconflict would be eradication of Jihadism, and unfortunately what is going on in Palestine is throwing fuel on the fire of it. But don’t side with Hamas! Never. Don’t mistake compassion for civilians with picking sides! These lunatics are literally bragging about loving death more than the jews, or us westerners for that matter, love life.

I have said before that it is the #Arab states who hold most of the key to solving this puzzle in their hand. And we should support them in solving it for our own interest, too. Because the muslim world quietly supporting Jihadism will only strenghten Christian fascism amongst our midst.
Jihadists are the #farright of the Muslim world. I’m appalled at how many people on the left blatantly miss this fact! 😧
@gimulnautti the UK has seen violent terrorism as well. Civilians bombed in public places, politicians blown to smithereens at a conference.
But even the British government (and believe me, it is one of the worst) didn’t respond by carpet bombing Belfast city.
Six weeks in to the blockade and bombardment we are well past the point of “both sides”, as will be seen by the worldwide popular demands for a ceasefire.
So maybe keep your (kind and considerate) dripping condescension to yourself

However, it appears that you’re incapable of communicating without condescension so yes, probably best to shut up.
You can’t go around insulting peoples intellectual capacity without getting muted. Play the ball, not the man.

Now if you’re going to hold that against me, who comes from a culture where directness is kindness, sure, but don’t hold your own culture’s phrasing and unspoken ”read between the lines” as higher standard
