@pabloniusmonk Due to the "15 year rule" (more than 15 years living abroad), I cannot vote in any UK election, general or local. Nor could I vote in the Brexit referendum. Due to Brexit, I cannot vote in any European election. I cannot vote in Spanish national elections, because I do not have Spanish nationality. Due to no agreement between Spain and the UK, I cannot have Spanish nationality without renouncing my UK nationality. The local municipal elections in Granada is all I have left. 🫤
@AdamBishop ugh, that is a difficult predicament there, Adam. You have my sympathy. I'm hopeful that, now that Brexit is failing to deliver on its many false promises, GB can begin undoing this mess. That is a long road, I imagine.
@pabloniusmonk Thanks for the sympathy Pablo! Yes, a long road ahead for the UK. Very long, as the UK hasn't yet reached a turning point. Europe could also do better for us that have had rights stripped away from us without being able to have a say in the matter. I had expected some sort of option to (re)become a Euro citizen by choice, seeing as I had been a Euro citizen for my entire life up until Brexit. I pay my taxes without representation. That doesn't sit with European ideals.
