Rasta,

Well, time to go get jabbed again.
I'll make a late lunch when I get back.
CYA soon.. Unless I die?

@Rasta naaa had ‘em two weeks ago still here
Simple Minds - Alive And Kicking
https://yewtu.be/watch?v=ljIQo1OHkTI

Rasta,

@Pierrette I've never had a reaction. My wife gets two days of symptoms.
Just lucky so far. I've had one of every vax they put out, Astro-Moderna-Pfizer I wanted to be sure I got all the good microchips they offered LOL

Pierrette,
@Pierrette@mastodon.uno avatar

@Rasta sure micro things are good for the skin🤣

Rasta,

@Pierrette All the crazy people with the chip concerns. I wanted to reassure them, that they were indeed crazy LOL

Pierrette,
@Pierrette@mastodon.uno avatar

@Rasta 😂 I’m a fan of natural selection, did wonders with dinosaurs

Rasta,

@Pierrette Yes, that's true. I feel bad that I wish them harm. I just wish them to get everything they want.

Pierrette,
@Pierrette@mastodon.uno avatar

@Rasta that’s key, what they want ….🤭

Rasta,

@Pierrette I keep thinking of one covid denier and RWNJ. Herman Cain. Denied it, but it killed him anyway. I can't make people smarter, but I wish they would just try a little thinking.

Pierrette,
@Pierrette@mastodon.uno avatar

@Rasta thinking isn’t mandatory unfortunately 🤷‍♀️ here in the tc where I work we had a bout of the thing, everyone being vaxxed it’s been no more than a cold; we’re talking people with serious medical conditions , ranging from diabetes, BPCO, severe heart failure… no one admitted to hospital no antiviral needed a win win

Rasta,

@Pierrette BTW, I gave up a lot of long-term friends during Covid. I never knew that side of them until I saw what they did or said about it. I decided some were no longer worthy of my friendship, they were high risk to me.

Pierrette,
@Pierrette@mastodon.uno avatar

@Rasta being in a medical environment most of the people are part of my bubble of likewise thinking…

Rasta,

@Pierrette Where I have a second home, our travel was restricted, unless we were staying there. The idea was to discourage travel, lest you spread it around. I could go, we live there, but I was super concerned coming from a town of 20000, to a town of 200. I was most likely to carry it there, I guessed? So, for their safety, I didn't travel. And everyone I know, that went to any function or family gathering there, got covid . Over half at a funeral got it. I don't go to their group affairs

Pierrette,
@Pierrette@mastodon.uno avatar

@Rasta its everywhere! And mask not mandatory anymore even in hospitals….

Rasta,

@Pierrette That's the stupidest thing ever. Even without Covid, masking should be in hospitals. People are sick and venerable, they don't need your colds, or flu.

Rasta,

@Pierrette But possibility of long covid still? We've never had Covid, Flu or a cold in three years. I want to keep it that way. If Covid is ever over, I'm still masking, I don't like the smell of some people now LOL

Pierrette,
@Pierrette@mastodon.uno avatar

@Rasta 😂 eh you’re right I don’t want long Covid either… but these patients ( psychiatric ) are not so good with precautions, some is in formation, most go out daily🤷‍♀️

Rasta,

@Pierrette Yesterday, there were three rows of chairs, touching each other, every seat filled, waiting for their name to be called for their vax. I was 20 min early and they called my name as I entered, so I didn't have to find a seat, but only I had a mask on? WTF? You believe the booster is necessary, so you book it, and sit unprotected before you get the shot, in the waiting area.

Pierrette,
@Pierrette@mastodon.uno avatar

@Rasta 🤦🏻‍♀️

Rasta,

@Pierrette I've never used the term, Cognitive Dissonance so many times since Covid. SMH

Pierrette,
@Pierrette@mastodon.uno avatar

@Rasta Thanks for the follow btw I see so many of your adventures in my tl due to one or another fellow friends that I toght we followed each other already ( a toast to the new RV! 🥂 )

Rasta,

@Pierrette That's the same as I was saying earlier. Once I unfollowed someone because they posted too frequently and robbed others of being seen. And it didn't matter, others I shared the good stuff, worked out well.
The New RV is 30 years old. LOL, low miles, but scary expensive to maintain., Going to go on a major run with it when ready

Pierrette,
@Pierrette@mastodon.uno avatar

@Rasta have adventures! With the cats❤️

Rasta,

@Pierrette I am sick with worry. I worry about everything now. But we did this work to get ready on the RV, and then the main CONVERTER that puts the lights, furnace, etc on. No power. 30 years old, you can't buy the part at the hardware store. There's no dealer, they folded decades ago. There's no schematics. I get up early and watch dozens of related part changes for each model to get some guidance where I am going with this

Pierrette,
@Pierrette@mastodon.uno avatar

@Rasta hubby has a fifty yo tractor it’s the same problem the spare parts and the maintenance, educated himself on YouTube

Rasta,

@Pierrette I'd love a backhoe, even just the claw. LOL, I can't even hire backhoes, we're so rural, they won't come without a days work, and the travel time to get there.

Pierrette,
@Pierrette@mastodon.uno avatar

@Rasta this old model could once be equipped with that ! Not now I think; we’re Italy rural, it means not isolated, many farms and country homes I wonder if it wouldn’t be more convenient to hire the tractor when needed😁 but it’s beautiful I like it though I can’t even get it started

Rasta,

@Pierrette My niece's husband bought a small tractor with backhoe, and then realized $300 payments forever were hard to do. He didn't want to charge me (Family) so, I said, let me pay your loan payments? Every time he came, I gave him $300, even if only a few hours of work. He thought it was too much, but I couldn't even hire anyone else, he was it, and I wanted to keep him forever

Pierrette,
@Pierrette@mastodon.uno avatar

@Rasta great it could be rented out even

Rasta,

@Pierrette That's a risk though. Renting anything is a risk. Rent your house sometime. And try to get it back. People tell horror stories about tenants burning the shingles in winter.
No one looks after your stuff like you do. I'd offer to do the work for them, rather than loan my machine. Also, maybe it's not their fault, but it fails and you can't tell if it was just time, or because they had it? Things I loaned went in the trash when returned.

Pierrette,
@Pierrette@mastodon.uno avatar

@Rasta ☹️ now that I think of it maybe you’re right!

Rasta,

@Pierrette When my daughter was home, something her friends flushed plugged my sewer. The city had just decided they didn't snake their pipes anymore and I had to dig my driveway up at Christmas to clear it. Then, I bought a professional plumbers snake, used, for $200. A friend borrowed one of the cheaper ones, about $80 and suddenly I needed it back. It was new, and this is how I got it back. Drove in at night and left it on my doorstep, rusted, bent and unusable. We haven't talked since

Pierrette,
@Pierrette@mastodon.uno avatar

@Rasta ☹️ what friend

Rasta,

@Pierrette The Navy was all acquaintances. I drove to work with my neighbour for years, it was convenient because we worked together for years. When he moved, he drops by the old neighbourhood to see people, but never stops to say hello to me. Borrowed my cement mixer before he left and never brought it back either. Acquaintance

Pierrette,
@Pierrette@mastodon.uno avatar

@Rasta 😱 the mixer no! It can break a lot of neighborly relation that one ! 😁

Rasta,

@Pierrette he moved and took it. Buddy buddy until the furniture left

Pierrette,
@Pierrette@mastodon.uno avatar

@Rasta 😂😂😂cement mixers are a sensitive issue !

Rasta,

@Pierrette that one would sell for $1,000, but it was old but to give you an example, just like the plumber snake, when I needed it it was gone? I loaned it to him when he lived next door, I didn't know he took it out of the province and when he moved he never came back with it. I had to rent one for $200 for a couple of days to run some cement. So if it was worth only $200 because it was old, then it cost me $400 in loss

Rasta,

@Pierrette I sometimes take a moment to explain the difference between Friends and Acquaintances. We call them friends, but they are acquaintances. Want to test them? Call them at 3 am, say you ran out of gas. Would they get a jerry can full and bring it to you on the highway, you hate to wake them, but you're stuck. They may have already hung up. A real friend would hate you, but come anyway, just to punch your lights out 😎

Pierrette,
@Pierrette@mastodon.uno avatar

@Rasta 😁I agree ! There’s a huge difference!

Rasta,

@Pierrette you can count your friends in a lifetime on your fingers

Rasta,

@Pierrette When I moved to the country, we had a guy with a backhoe about 3 miles away. I booked him as often as I could afford him. But now, none. It's everyone coming from the city with hours of charges for travel time and then the machine. Can't afford that

Rasta,

@Pierrette I suspect it's diesel? And probably has glow-plugs that need warming before it starts. And maybe, a vent on the cylinders. I don't know tractors, but I know diesel engines

Pierrette,
@Pierrette@mastodon.uno avatar

@Rasta yess! Like that! Diesel! I’m a know nothing about it but husband even has a spray for the candelettes before he starts it

Rasta,

@Pierrette Yes, Quick Start. They aren't like a gasoline engine that has a high flash point. It needs to be warm to ignite the cylinder and the injectors have to be tuned to atomize the fuel well

Pierrette,
@Pierrette@mastodon.uno avatar

@Rasta you’ve explained it so extraordinarily! 😂 it is a hard job to start that monster but it does wonders then!

Rasta,

@Pierrette If you want to master it, look up the basics of diesel engines. They are pretty simple but depending on the installation things can be hidden. Most of our Marine Diesels had pet cocks to bleed air off fuel lines and injectors.

Pierrette,
@Pierrette@mastodon.uno avatar

@Rasta its a wonderful world pity my husband doesn’t speak English he’d be fascinated 😁 his father was a naval engineer in Durres ( ALB)

Rasta,

@Pierrette What does he speak? I'm no good at Latin. I know some French LOL And I'm fluent in both hands

Pierrette,
@Pierrette@mastodon.uno avatar

@Rasta he speaks Albanian naturally and Italian as a native, having got here in his teens… a little Russian it was mandatory in his school years over there 😁

Rasta,

@Pierrette can't talk to him or even spell those words lol

Pierrette,
@Pierrette@mastodon.uno avatar

@Rasta 😂😂😂😂 I can relate

Rasta,

@Pierrette I might know a few words a different language but I'm no good at pronunciation of names or anything foreign

ForfarFairLady,

@Pierrette @Rasta
Love Simple Minds and have seen them live numerous times.

Rasta,

@ForfarFairLady Never did. Probably would like them more if I wasn't DJing during their haydays @Pierrette
They didn't generate any dance tunes that I know of.
And I was a Dance DJ. After I retired, I got into more of them and many other listening bands

Pierrette,
@Pierrette@mastodon.uno avatar

@Rasta we use to dance a lot to SM in clubs but then we were weirdos 😜 @ForfarFairLady

Rasta,

@Pierrette They have club mixes too. I played clubs for a few years. Didn't pay much but you could keep the dance floor bouncing with FLINTSTONES and BARBIE GIRL, so there's that. But in private shows, I was full request, I have a lot of selections from 1930 to 2008 (and a few since, but I stopped playing that year, so I didn't buy any more CDs except for me. Alive and Kicking reminds me of U2, also hard to dance to , niche folks will dance. If drunk enough ;P
@ForfarFairLady

Pierrette,
@Pierrette@mastodon.uno avatar

@Rasta we hardly had a need to drink we were naturally high, or down? We were the kind with the black clothes and funny spiky hairdos you know 😁@ForfarFairLady

Rasta,

@Pierrette My daughter went through her goth phase. Everything on the line was black. Cleaning the basement, I stumbled on a bottle of her black nail polish, and tried it on my thumbnail. I forgot, and it stayed for weeks. People just thought I whacked my thumb again. We had to listen to Marilyn Manson then too.. the kids blew up my home speakers with Metal, and Grunge music.

@ForfarFairLady

MaJ1,

@Rasta Only the good die young, so you’re fine mate !

Rasta,

@MaJ1 I'll live forever!
