I've been promising myself to get Game of Thrones, as I'd never seen it. Watched the first few episodes and I didn't enjoy it. I persevered, last night, and by episode six I was enjoying it.

@fitheach I was the same. I think it was the ‘coronation’ that convinced me. Must have been episode 5 or 6. I was the same with The Wire, episode 4 (where they investigate a crime scene saying nothing but the F word) hooked me.

@rodti
The King Charles coronation?

rodti,
@rodti@mas.to avatar

@fitheach Hah! Oh his coronation is unlikely to convince me to do anything 😜 There's a bit in season 1 of GoT where someone is crowned. If you haven't got to that already then you're not far off.

@rodti
Same here.

GoT has loads of kings/queens, but, I haven't seen an actual coronation so far.

@fitheach Something to look forward to then ☺️

@rodti
Aye, almost as much as I look forward to real royal weddings. 😜

I'm liking the character Jon Snow. He has a big white dog (direwolf) called Ghost. What's not to like? 😃

Game of Thrones (TV series)

GoT must be, at least, partly inspired by the Wars of the Roses. The GoT "north" and "south" has parallels with those of England (actors chosen seem to reflect this). The GoT Wall must be Hadrian's Wall, and the Wildings (many with red hair) are the Scots.

Glad we've got that sorted.

@fitheach The King of the North is Andy Burnham.

@matt
Is that what he's doing now? 😃

Is Daenerys Targaryen meant to be a heroine? I just find the character intensely irritating. The queen comes across as conceited, arrogant and entitled. Not exactly the stuff of hero worship.

@fitheach
The books are quite good.

@rauder
Perhaps watching the screen adaption first is the wrong way round.
