A match made in hell.

(For my international followers: Axel Springer is Germany's Fox News.)

@tante Just as with crypto or blockchain: Look at who is adopting and promoting it and you get a good picture of what ideas lie at the core of a technology 🤝

@malteengeler yes. Springer and a lying machine fit together like a glove

@tante @malteengeler

Yep, and these kinda deals will just nudge the bias of the lies more towards a certain direction.

Pretty scary IMHO.

@tante It's even worse because there's a reason [founder and fmr. CEO that is deceased] didn't start again in 1952, because some reactionaries in Politricks decided to lift bans the Allies put in place in that year.

IMHO one of the worst Post-WW2 - mistakes Germany ever did!

are just content of having their "1st Amendment Right" to knowingly lie to viewers and spread disinformation!

@tante oh so now they do not only produce bullshit and fake news, they also pump that into a fake news generator.

aramba,
@aramba@tldr.nettime.org avatar

@tante since musk went totally nuts, Döpfner pivots to the next tech poster boy but what is the plan?. Giving away Bildzeitung on LLM? It is only about this tweet and the attention. The springer employees are super excited I bet 🫠

@aramba @tante i wonder about financial details. this has very similar problems to google news, which axel springer tried to fight and force to pay licensing fees (in vain). and i'd assume that google news snippets drive more traffic to a website than a source buried in llm output.

i agree that it's likely a pr stunt and it fits into the accelerationist idea of jumping on the train no matter how fast or where it goes

@tante

So Axel Springer is going to lay of it's - erm - writers (I don't call them Journalists), because AI can do their job cheaper. That's good news. Theese are the people, who wrote articles about "lazy" unemployed, etc. Well, let them taste their own poison now. It's also a statment about the quality of the Bild-contets up to now, if AI can take that over.

tante,
@tante@tldr.nettime.org avatar

@cdonat it's more the other route: OpenAI pulls in Axel Springer's feeds. Which is even worse cause it's basically pushing more right wing content into OpenAI's product

ainmosni,
@ainmosni@berlin.social avatar

@tante That is terrifying.
