@kkarhan @jerry Someone correct me if I'm wrong because I'm not a #fediverse expert, but it's to my understanding that since orgs like @mozilla moved to Matrix from IRC that's how the people are going for a chat protocol?

@kkarhan I keep being told that XMPP is dead because of Meta, and IRC… I’ve thought about it.

I went with Matrix because of the complaints that mastodon has no end-to-end encrypted DM capabilities and wanted to provide an option. @urda

@jerry @kkarhan Don't get me wrong I spent plenty of time on IRC in my early days :party_parrot: Matrix seems neat as it lets me reach other #fediverse admins and more.

XMPP and IRC are as dead as e-mail is. ;-)

And end-to-end encryption is available in XMPP too, by the way.
