Please this to share awareness.

I’d like to report suspicious activity going on with @pixelfed whereby I think they are collecting user data. I deleted my account one weak ago and despite my deletion where my account no longer shows on pixelfed.social , it is still showing on federated instances.

I deleted my account a week ago (and deleted all my posts using the Pixelfed application on the iPhone) but they still show on the Mastodon, Mammoth and Ivory.

I can no longer log in to my account neither on the Pixelfed application nor their website. They both tell me that my account doesn’t match the credentials.

I contacted @pixelfed and the developer @dansup over several days with no avail. I got no reply from either.

For those who are curious, my account on Pixelfed is @intothetilian .

Overall I would advise anyone to AVOID using Pixelfed due to suspicious activity.

I would like from @trumpet to deferate from this instance.

@pixelfed @dansup @intothetilian @trumpet

for example if you go the developer’s page which is pixelfed.social / danusup on the browser, you would see their posts.

If you go on my page, pixelfed.social on the browser, it woild tell you that the page doesn’t exist.

And as aforementioned, I cannot log in into my page anymore.

@intothetilian @pixelfed @intothetilian @trumpet How about you educate yourself before spreading lies and misinformation.

All data is deleted, you can see in the source code, please stop spreading lies about Pixelfed

@intothetilian @dansup @intothetilian @trumpet Clearly you read the bright red warning that says " Some remote servers may contain your public data (statuses, avatars, etc) and will not be deleted until federation support is launched." when you deleted your account, its part of the process of Account Deletion.

Please stop spreading lies!

@pixelfed @dansup @intothetilian @trumpet Please change it from “some of your data” (by that I mean the etc) to ALL OF YOUR DATA because all of my data is still there, including posts, comments, avatars and bio. And please “there is no way you can delete your data from said servers, even if you do it manually until federation support is launched.”

I deleted all my posts manually before deleting the account. I’m sorry but all of this is sketchy as fuck.

@intothetilian @intothetilian @trumpet

That's the downside of federation. Your content has spread to a lot of servers. You need to trust those servers to respect your request to delete. Which they might not do either because of bugs, network mistakes or mischief.

Not much you can do other than contacting each of these servers' admins manually.

@narF @intothetilian @trumpet and it’s so funny that I got a reply when I went full offensive whereas my previous interactions where I asked politely were in vain.

This individual behaves a lot like these big cooperations. Very sketchy stuff.

@intothetilian @narF @intothetilian @trumpet You badmouthed publicly, and the core issue is that everything works as intended and you didn’t read or understand what you were doing. This is a you issue, and your bad behaviour. You are being a Karen, shouting in the shop to anyone who can hear, because the manager of the very large store hadn’t noticed you struggling to pull open a push door, while they were busy with a million other things.

@narF @intothetilian @trumpet I contacted the server’s admin 3 days ago (and app developer) manually and I didn’t get a reply. I then contacted their official page.

Both got me no replies. Now the developer straight out blocked me because their page doesn’t specify that these servers might have my deleted posts (those that I have deleted manually before I deleted my account).

@intothetilian @intothetilian No I meant all the servers who received you messages over time. The pixelfed server already deleted your posts. It's the hundreds of copies on every instances that are still there. The Pixelfed server and its admin can't delete that for you.

@intothetilian@mas.to avatar

@narF @intothetilian I deleted handful of Mastodon accounts on many other instances before and not a single one had my deleted data for that long after deletion. Sometimes it would take a day or two, nothing more.

Also as mentioned, the behavior and the lack of response of the developer (contacted twice) made me reach such conclusions.

@intothetilian @narF @intothetilian You were trying unfinished software. It doesn’t all work like other stuff yet.

@narF @intothetilian @intothetilian @trumpet however these servers should have received a deletion notification

@pixelfed @dansup I had a feeling pixelfed didn't properly federate account deletions yet, might be something to fix soon.

But, it's also been Christmas and you really needed to take a holiday break.
