It is very jarring to go from WFH 9ish hours per day doing mostly whatever I think I should

to 11-hour day in uniform with a fresh shave and saluting and meetings and shit

Drill weekends are rough. But I only have 3 more after this one.

SrRochardBunson,

@venya

Can I interest you in co-developing a copy left creative commons app called ?

@SrRochardBunson

sorry, I missed this somehow

I only vaguely grok what you're talking about but I'm game for however I might help

(I cannot currently imagine how that might be)

also this track slays

SrRochardBunson,

@venya 😂

I feel the same way about the track! It's more than a proof of concept. It's art created from art. A modern Pictures at an Exhibition.

I'm not sure how either, but let's figure it out! I thought you might be game to play, and you're definitely more tech savvy than me. 😅

@yonder very generously put all of the code up there.

https://codeberg.org/yonder/python-musical-midi

I downloaded Pydroid 3 to try to play with it and have no clue what to do, lol.

Yeah that code is still very rough and ready though I tried to tidy it up a bit.

And thanks for the listen, I kind of got lucky there after experimenting with it a bit in a DAW, it was one of those that just came together. One problem with the code as it is, it tends to produce very regular plodding rhythms, so you've got to kind of disguise that with effects, patches with slow attack, pads etc

I finally got round to sorting out my on Windows (usually I just used it in WSL or on my server) and had a first play with the GUI app aka example-07. Naturally I had to use the Bonk Knob Records logo 😂

I just used the default settings to generate a MIDI file, then loaded it into Ableton, used a random VST for every of the 8 tracks (including the drums), pitched some tracks down by an octave and slapped on some FX.

Screenshot of Yonder's Image to MIDI app with the Bonk Knob Records logo loaded. Underneath it the generated notes image can be seen. Audio is the generated MIDI file as played by Ableton Live.

SrRochardBunson,

@axwax @yonder @venya

YES!!!! Another success!!!

Another experiment (see above posts for some more details and code download).

Who'd have thunk an apple picker could sound this funky!

I used exactly the same Ableton Live project, with no changes whatsoever and just dropped in my new MIDI file. 🤯

Ok, last one (for now)!

This time it's an (accidentally upside-down) picture of some balls at an art installation.

Same sounds as above with no editing on my part.

Who in their right mind uses AI composition tools when all one needs for their new hit is your amazing tool and an endless supply of meme images 😜

My turn.. based off my Bandcamp profile image. Using AAS Chromaphone 3 patches, chosen semi-randomly.

Those are freaking awesome!
:hearthands:
Is there anyway to pull that image bigger or can you post it. I like to look at the image while listening and can't wait until someone figures out how to visualize where the moment is in the image. Maybe with some blending of the original and measured versions?

oh hey presto! that was fast and easy and fun

that's 16th in the bag 😂

i fed into the script the Lime Bar sloth dj logo guy, touched NOTHING else, dropped midi into DAW, randomly assigned virtual synths (did change some patches that hurt my ears)

(hardest part was finding the output midi file! derp!)
