I’ve been on Reddit for over a decade, and I will be leaving it at the end of this month after the shameful way they have treated @christianselig and other 3rd party devs.

Apollo isn’t just the best Reddit apps, it’s one of the best and most user-focused apps EVER.

Such a shame.

I hope you will consider adapting Apollo to a distributed Reddit alternative, like how Tweetbot turned to Mastodon and became Ivory. With your user/fan base, it could create traction!

I understand that you may first need some time to get over this situation. And that there may not be one clear alternative yet, which Mastodon already was somewhat more. But it would be a shame if Apollo disappeared completely, and I truly think it may help towards something better 💪

@christianselig Truly heartbreaking. For me Apollo always was the only way to access Reddit, for many years. It's such a delightful and well-crafted app, thank you so much Christian ❤️ Like probably many, without Apollo I won’t be using Reddit much anymore. Really stupid decision on their side.

@christianselig do you plan on open sourcing the app if you have no other plan for it or is there too much stuff in the code that would prevent that? If that’s possible that’ll be a good way to say goodbye to the app.

@christianselig This is such a shame. To be bullied out of a project that so much time and care went into, and was so well put together is heartbreaking I'm sure. It was the only way I got to Reddit (don't think I ever went to the site) and I used it for a lot of great discussions and news.

Thanks for the great app, it will be missed! :(

@christianselig Reddit might as well close the whole API access system. I suspect they will eventually do this anyway.
