Do you have a place/resource for your favorite house floor plans, or have cool ones to share? Bonus points for net-zero/passive home designs

ArkitectNaut,

@christianselig you won’t get a lot of “net-zero/passive” from a floor plan. It’s a lot more complicated than that.

_rw2,

@christianselig I love to frequent Beaver Homes and Cottages (beaverhomesandcottages.ca) and dream of affording a house 🤪

smartgo,

@christianselig We’re working on a passive house in Kanab, Utah. You can see the old (too expensive) floor plan here: https://kanab.house Currently going through the engineering on the new (smaller) plan, will hopefully post more soon.

@christianselig Heard some good things about this design. Might have trouble keeping you grounded, though. 😃 (For @lexfri )
I'm sorry, Christian, but there’s just no way I'm going to see "passive home design" and not just immediately think of The Curse; that show near-ruined the term for me.

mikemacleod,

@christianselig no, but I know a draftsperson in NS that is into net-zero and passive home. They’re good at taking client desires and turning them into useful and beautiful spaces.

@christianselig earthships rule! (https://earthship.com/build/). I don't live in one, but watching https://invidious.slipfox.xyz/watch?v=r31XymzJ7aA for example made me love them. If only I had the space and money...

@jt_rebelo Interesting, didn't know that was a thing!

@christianselig We did a big home planning/floor planning a couple years ago. We started with a couple of the easily google-able house plan sites that show low res photos of the rooms/size/etc. Then used home planning software to build out what we wanted.

It's definitely not good enough without an engineer to review the plan, but we planned everything down to where the wall sockets were.

@ioloro Yeah that's fair, that's effectively my plan too and to have an architect at the end, but was hoping for some good inspiration first

@christianselig If I recall correctly we just used Pinterest. Which were just links to the various sites. Their search was easy and hashtags allowed it to be specific
