Leisureguy,

First sprout in indoor planter

The purple basil is first out of the gate, but I can see rosemary and garlic chives starting to stir. I added new seeds to green shiso and red shiso, though they may simply take longer to germinate. Germination times: basil 3-10 days; rosemary 14-30 days; chives 14 to 20 days, shiso 7-21 days.

The weird lighting is from the grow lights. To my eye, the light is white, but the camera doesn't see it that way.

Ps. You can set the colour balance in a free app like Lightroom mobile.

That's an awful lot of big plants for growing in a little planter. Rosemary here is a bush, chives also grow big clumps as does basil. Will you plant them on into bigger containers once started?

Leisureguy,

@EllieK This is my first rodeo, indoor-garden-wise.

Leisureguy,

@EllieK I don't have bigger planters and this is my first excursion into indoor gardening. I won't be surprised if some things don't work. I did get seeds with thee planter that are probably more suited to it, so those will be my fallback.

EllieK,

@Leisureguy

They will grow nicely in pots with growing soil, on a sunny windowsill. The transition is not straight from planter to pot, but I've done it successfully lots of times and will happily help if you decide to do that.

Leisureguy,

@EllieK Thank you. I'll ponder it. I do have a narrow windowsill that gets morning sun.

EllieK,

@Leisureguy
Sounds perfect!
