davep,

Was setting up a new virtual host in Apache on my RPi, which has involved much gnashing of teeth and questioning of life choices.

Went down a rabbit hole of HSTS preloading of my principal host causing the other to flip to it along with many other increasingly improbable things.

It was obviously DNS. My PC and phone (and router) were storing old values. Restarted my phone, connected to a different network and it was fine to install the Let's Encrypt certificate.

I bloody hate computers.

graphite,

@davep s/computers/dns/

sigmasternchen,

DNS Caching...

davep,

It might be a rubbish site for now, but it's delivered to you securely 😂

davep,

So, I set up a staging WordPress Pi server, and then set up a second virtual host for the production Pi server (it already had another domain on it). The latter worked fine with php but refuses to play ball with WordPress.

Gah. I think I'll swap out the two, and add a second virtual host to the one that plays ball with WordPress, then reinstall Debian on the old prod one as Staging.

Even then, the Staging to Prod process looks like it might be a bit dodgy.

Bloody computers.

davep,

Ok, there were other issues along the way, but the DNS one was the final straw.
