Final mention. Yesterday I shared a post reflecting on my intentions for using different web and social platforms, especially given the demise of Twitter as the once reliable dataviz hub. I've broken down how I will be 'active' on each (ps. active ≠ prolific!)

@andykirk you'd probably get more traction here on vis.social if you interacted with other folks on vis.social and the greater fediverse.

Broadcasting alone, seems to not do as well on mastodon. At least, that's what I've observed, so far.

@kristinHenry Oh I totally agree, and its the same on any platform, there's just so many hours in the day and so I have to find a path to coping to best effect!

@kristinHenry@vis.social avatar

@andykirk After running vis.social pre-and-post-twitter...I'm personally 'feeling' more connected..is that the right way to put it?

For example, folks that sign up for my project are more likely to actually tell me when their 'letter' arrives than other platforms.

Our goals differ. But I'd be curious about what would happen if you actually engaged with others here.

You have a much broader community than I do, I'm super curious about what you could build here.

@kristinHenry I do engage on here with everybody who replies, mentions me or writes to me. It’s never been a huge amount but I’ll always keep that going. What I just can’t accommodate is actively finding and following other people’s posts on here and then interacting with that content. Ultimately what I’d love everyone to do is resurrect RSS feeds!

kristinHenry,
@kristinHenry@vis.social avatar

@andykirk Yes! RSS feeds need to come back in full force!

In terms of vis.social, I'm curious, but do you look at our Local Timeline?

@maarten @andykirk @kristinHenry And Bluesky has RSS as well, now.

@andykirk but then, there doesn't seem to be much interest, within the data viz community, outside of a few on vis.social, with what I've been through and learned while working to build and protect community here.

That's ok. The folks who get it, let me know. Sometimes.
