So, this was released today. My third stamp with Canada Post. Qarlinngua (The pants). And technically my second stamp with a family member in it, as the tiny figure in it is my son Travis. Now for one with Hilary in it.
I’ve very proud of all of these, beyond the cache. They are about my home, and family. And also my family has a long history with the Post Office, 101 years. My grandfather, father, and brother were all postmasters in Roblin. #Nunavut#Arctic#Stamps#philately#CanadaPost
@NunavutBirder This is a case when I would really love a QuotePost feature, so I could post to folks who sign up for my #StickersAndStamps project to reply with one of these stamps (if the price is the right one for mail to the US)
:)
remember how the US post office was doing great actually, pretty phenomenal really, until republicans pulled that weird forward funding crap and then trump installed one of his own corrupt mega donors to run the place and then Joe Biden just left it like that
@seachanger big part of my whole #StickersAndStamps project is to show what areas have had the worst delivery times. Still don't have enough data to show that, but at least I'm sending little moments of joy to the folks who do sign up.
One of the things I love about sticky-notes is that they don't damage anything they're stuck to. So, I could maybe stick one to the edge of a mirror in the ladies room of a restaurant. And it wouldn't damage anything.
If you'd like a few of these sticky-notes, you can sign up for my #StickersAndStamps project and mention 'Sticky Notes' in the 'comment' field.
This way, I can send you these and you can help with my project as well,
there’s been such a lag in naming this hellscape, glad at least a little reckoning is coming
“That labor amounts to constant self-promotion in the form of cheap trend-following, ever-changing posting strategies, and the nagging feeling that what you are really doing with your time is marketing, not art. “
@seachanger That's partly how my #StickersAndStamps project started. I wanted to mail hand written notes to others and walk them to the post office and physically send them out into the world.
Final mention. Yesterday I shared a post reflecting on my intentions for using different web and social platforms, especially given the demise of Twitter as the once reliable dataviz hub. I've broken down how I will be 'active' on each (ps. active ≠ prolific!)
@andykirk After running vis.social pre-and-post-twitter...I'm personally 'feeling' more connected..is that the right way to put it?
For example, folks that sign up for my #StickersAndStamps project are more likely to actually tell me when their 'letter' arrives than other platforms.
Our goals differ. But I'd be curious about what would happen if you actually engaged with others here.
You have a much broader community than I do, I'm super curious about what you could build here.
For the month of October, I'm participating in the annual #inktober drawing challenge. I'll be following some of the official Inktober prompts, but mostly the SciArt Inktober prompts. I will also be giving up my colorful inks and restricting myself to black ink.
Today, I'm following the #SciArtInktober prompt "lipid" and drawing some phospholipids.
