@codinghorror yeah. I recently bought a completely remodeled house, and I was horrified that they did not run any outlets by the toilets. Thankfully we were able to do it without much effort in the most important places.
My last house, I just had cables strung over the sink and along the wall.
@lkanies yeah, extension cords work but are quite hacky / ugly longer term. And I empathize with the power difficulty because installing a power outlet near the toilet, repairing the drywall (inevitably requires pretty big drywall cuts to do the power outlet), and repainting / spackling the replaced drywall is no joke!
@samsaffron@codinghorror@tenderlove for the record I have a Toto bidet at home and it’s amazing. And when I travel going to the bathroom is significantly worse
@xobb one thing about bidets: for some reason the manufacturers feel compelled to have a zillion "features", most of which are perplexing. Toto is one of the simpler ones, believe it or not!
@faoluin it's a good question. The fully integrated bidet toilets are indeed best, no question, but we went with the "get power outlets installed (not simple!) and install a replacement seat" method.
