@b0rk do you know why search is bad on smaller instances? Is it just searching posts the instance has already cached when serving them to its users?

I wonder if there’s some fancy graph theory or eventual consistency algorithm for searching robustly from any instance.

@bnut yea it's just because the small instance has less posts in its database. i'm really curious to see how search works in bluesky now that they've started to federate

@b0rk have you installed elasticsearch on your instance? It’s easy enough to do (as I’m sure you are aware) and personally I don’t feel there is much difference for me in search results compared to larger instances.

@b0rk This is the exact use case I have when working on community for @zerotier in the Fediverse. I usually search and/or interact from my personal account since it's on mastodon.social.
