Just remember, when you say you won't vote for Joe Biden, nothing bad happens to Joe Biden. He retires, goes home to his family, and lives his life in peace.

What happens to your Muslim/Hindu/Sikh/Jain/Buddhist/Wiccan/Pagan neighbours? They're fucked. What happens to your LGBTQ friends? They're fucked too. What happens to poor people? The disabled? The elderly? Babies? Kids? BIPOC folks? Women?

What do you care? If you cared, you would've voted for Joe!

Also unsure how much of ‘I want to move to LA’ is ‘I really can’t deal with SF’ and how much of it is ‘I’ve been feeling skittish about SF ever since two bad racist incidents happened to me there (and no amount of well meaning liberal hugs will make that go away)’

@skinnylatte as much as I love the SF bay the weather is better and the rents are more reasonable in LA. Don't blame you for a second.

It just struck me what Apple got wrong with its “crushing ad.”

They thought we would identify with the iPad, not the creative instruments and materials.

alexhammy,
@alexhammy@hachyderm.io avatar

@glennf @ernie has a great write up on this in Tedium, and agrees with this point. People think a hydraulic press is that thing they see on youtube crushing stuff to death. Apple's ad thinks that a hydraulic press is a tool that's used to combine parts into a greater whole.

I have an idea. I would like to build a desk for myself using a slab of wood and a bunch of milk crates.

Milk crates are cheap. You can buy them for $5-$6 each on specialty sites.

I have the perfect spot for it on my third floor, next to a window. I could theoretically fit a 100-inch slab of wood in the spot.

alexhammy,
@alexhammy@hachyderm.io avatar

@ernie if you put a plate on the bottom of the milk crate and then bolt that plate to the bottom of the wooden slab, it would be sturdy as hell. Zip tie the crate stacks up and you're in business.

Just played for the first time in a couple of weeks, and I think we just had our first true encounter with griefers...one of them kept calling in air strikes everywhere we had to be at, and the other shot us any time we had samples, including right outside of the extraction point right as we were getting on ship.

We've been pretty lucky in helldivers so far, actually met a few people we sent friend requests to after because we got along great. I don't understand what enjoyment griefers get from making the game suck for others. Guess I'm not fked up enough 🙃

Blocking somebody? Baller move. You’re in charge of your account. You decide who has access to you.

Telling someone, “I’m blocking you for that!” immediately before blocking them? Baby move. Your dysfunctional obsession with getting the last word in is showing.

I need some new science fiction to read, who has some suggestions? I don't like military sci-fi. For reference, my favorite series is the Expanse, I also enjoyed Scalzi's Collapsing Empire, I love Robert Charles Wilson's books. I mostly enjoy space operas and unique stories about technology, for example I really liked the recent book Mountain in the Sea about AI and intelligent octopus. Suggestions from the awesome Bookstodon community? @bookstodon

Cookie’s vet just called back with her new test results. Everything she had which was previously 2-5x more than normal (all liver related) have all come back to well within normal. The vet now recommends keeping her on this medication and routine for as long as possible (instead of euthanasia)! There was a moment a few weeks ago when we didn’t know if she’d make it, or what her quality of life would be. She’s really surprised everyone with her will to live well.

Recruiter: we were really impressed with your resume, and want to recommend this very basic, bare-bones data entry job that only pays $18.50 an hour.

Remember:

There were possible crimes, but tax and reporting crimes are not election interference.

There is also a circular thing with Cohen and Pecker telling the court that they expected Trump to pay back the hush money payments.

If they expected to get paid back, it was a loan to Trump and not a contribution. Right?

alexhammy,
@alexhammy@hachyderm.io avatar

@Teri_Kanefield @Hash sounds like they have Pecker on the stand saying things like "we got fined $175k for in-kind contributions" and "I'm here under a non-prosecution agreement as is AMI" which means they are taking that route?

do leftists who keep calling democrats the lesser evil actually realize that to normal people, they are the lesser evil compared to trumpers?

alexhammy,
@alexhammy@hachyderm.io avatar

@anilmc @curiousgawker for normal people evil in the leftist sense means not just making perfect be the enemy of good, but helping good to lose to perfect. They're evil because they just can't seem to grok "good enough" and would rather the world burn than have "good enough".

This is less evil than right wingers who want to light the world on fire themselves, but it's still pretty bad.
