Ok, I rarely do this, but for the sake of anecdotal research could you please boost?

  1. Are you O negative blood type?
  2. Have you had covid?

Please chime in with your experience.

2. No

@LeftistLawyer
I'm not O-.

I've had #Covid twice: once in March 2020, when we still thought spread via groceries and door handles, and once more recently, when we understood that #CovidIsAirborne but Helen stopped masking without telling me. We've both had every #vaccine and #booster we can wring out of the NHS, and I wear #FFP2 in all indoor public spaces. (So, now, does Helen.)

I'm immunocompromised -- can't make Covid antibodies -- so we have even more reason to take it seriously.

My second wrangle with Rona gave me a bitof #LongCovid (to wit, loss of taste and smell, a month of Covid cock, and a persistent smell of smoke in my nostrils), but everything has cleared up now, thank goodness.

We need to talk more about #CovidCock. It might focus some minds. Nothing else seems to be doing it.

@LeftistLawyer I am O negative & sense it was protective. But I am also routinely vaxxed & have masked diligently when I have to be indoors in public. The first time I went maskless in a large indoor gathering (new chapel, high ceilings, funeral) I contracted Covid. By then it was Sept of 2023 though, & fairly mild. Lesson learned. I quarantined & did not give it to my partner, not 0 neg. Good luck with your research. even if you are the only one.

Wear a mask, especially if others are not!

@palin Dang. This is unheard of so far in the thread. Anything unique about why do you think?

deepmud,

@LeftistLawyer I am O positive, and so far I haven't had covid. I'm not O negative, so maybe you're not collecting data on us, but just for the heck of it ...

LeftistLawyer,
@LeftistLawyer@kolektiva.social avatar

@deepmud I probably should have said all o’s. That’s what the research indicates. You’re the third o+ with none claiming to have ever had Covid.

I am O - and I had something COVID like late 2019 when no one knew much about COVID and no testing was available. Nothing since then

  2. Yes, twice. First time I felt 100% fine, second time I felt grotty for one day.

Edited to add I've had all the vaccines the NHS has offered me.

Two of my roomies are O. They've each had covid once and it was much milder for them than for us other two in the household who've had it twice.

violetmadder,
@violetmadder@kolektiva.social avatar

@LeftistLawyer

(and this is damn lucky, since they both have vulnerable health-- my father, too, who barely masks and has congestive heart failure, amazingly has only caught it once and it was mild. The three people I was most worried about in the world, who all happen to be type O)

@LeftistLawyer 1. Yes. 2. Yes. Only once. But vaccinated as well as I can, and wear an N95 mask everywhere and avoid eating in public indoors, except for the two times I did (both within a week) and our entire family contracted COVID.

@LeftistLawyer Yes, and yes (once in 2022). We believe my husband (not O-) brought it home from work. His symptoms were worse than mine, mine was a mild sore throat & mild dysphoria, we both recovered quickly. We were both vaccinated.

GreenRoc,
@GreenRoc@mastodon.social avatar

@LeftistLawyer I'm O, I do not recall if I am positive or negative O. I am a variant of O I am 100% sure.

I have not had covid at all, as far as I know, no respiratory infection since Feb 2020.

My most recent covid test was last week, no covid detected.

I was exposed to possible covid, last week, in a hospital in involuntary bed rest for several days.

Most medical staff walked around unmasked, and me unconscious so I could not put on my own mask.

I lost my sense of taste a couple days ago.

GreenRoc,
@GreenRoc@mastodon.social avatar

@LeftistLawyer I am being 100% serious in this topic... Protecting myself is not 100% poissible when I am unconscious in a hospital bed.

6 days, 6 days. and idk how many nurses walked in, without a mask.

How can I protect myself if I am literally unconscious... more help is needed. I cant protect myself alone.

My carer had to sit next to me the whole time, she did not come out without damage. Her bp became dangerously high.

Lucky we were in a hospital, I guess. She checked herself in too.

kristen_d,
@kristen_d@mastodon.social avatar

@LeftistLawyer Oneg, fully vaxxed and boosted, immunocompromised, infected in July 2023. Sick for 3 weeks. No hospitalization though. Very fortunate here. I mask every day in public to this day.

TalktoBeverley,
@TalktoBeverley@mas.to avatar

@LeftistLawyer I've read a couple of research articles that suggest my blood type may be protective.

I'm O negative however I always wear an N95 respirator unless I'm in my own home.

My previously active social life no longer exists and I've lived like a hermit for almost 4 years now. My riskiest activity is an appointment with my dentist and I take a portable HEPA filter with me.

I've had 5 vaccinations, the maximum currently available to me in my circumstances in the UK.
