Do take the time to read this brilliant piece.

It contains excellent explanations on the spread of COVID mutations/variants, why vaccination alone isn't the answer, why we should continue to mask and negative communications.

The Greens were the biggest winners in the local elections, so why aren’t they getting fair air time? https://www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2024/05/07/the-greens-were-the-biggest-winners-in-the-local-elections-so-why-arent-they-getting-fair-air-time/

I'm sick of hearing Sunak warble on about "delivering for the British people..."

Just remember exactly WHAT 'Tories have delivered. CUTS! Our standard of living has diminished.

How did they ever persuade people they were fiscally responsible?

They've not improved the quality of anyone's life! People need services, and in a supposed first world country we should be able to expect better!

From our health service to pot holes, the country is in decline.

Is this what anyone voted for?

TalktoBeverley,
@TalktoBeverley@mas.to avatar

'Braverman told the BBC’s Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg: “I love my country, I care about my party and I want us to win, and I am urging the prime minister to change course, to – with humility – reflect on what voters are telling us, and change the plan and the way that he is communicating and leading us.” '

What the f*ck language does she speak, if she think voters are telling her to move further right?

And why the heck is the BBC giving her a platform?

GAHHH!

@Lassielmr I don't think any of us can make assumptions that we understand what most people think.

I certainly can't explain all the nuances of how I feel in one post. Unfortunately the system forces many to make their 'least worst' choice.

This article is from February, but I think it reflects the situation in England. I feel for Scotland. They make their wishes clear (I'm with them in spirit) but still have to endure 'Tory policies from Westminster.

"We still talk in terms of conquest. We still haven't become mature enough to think of ourselves as only a tiny part of a vast and incredible universe. Man's attitude toward nature is today critically important simply because we have now acquired a fateful power to alter and destroy nature. But man is a part of nature, and his war against nature is inevitably a war against himself."

@Wen fleas?

I would never have imagined...

Eek!

Be well. (Hope you enjoyed the election results. I have mixed feelings...)

Disappointed Houchen got in again, made all the worse by Slimy Sunak trying to gain reflected glory... No self-awareness whatsoever. Talked bollocks and made himself look a complete dick, as usual. YUK!

Just heard some idiot on BBC Breakfast claiming Starmer would represent the "most left-wing government we've ever had as a country and an illegal immigrant amnesty..."

"... frame super clearly for the electorate what that choice is..."

So this going to be part of the 'Tory strategy. Fearmongering. The "left" is nothing to be afraid of folks.

Andrew Griffith apparently. Never heard of him. Evidently another 'Tory liar. Starmer... "left-wing"? Pffft...

He went on "...actually those plans are starting to work..."

"... getting control of migration and our borders which has a real impact on everybody's quality of life whether it's the price of the rent of the home they live in..."

Really? What planet is he on? Claiming this has an impact on the cost of rent? Anyone forgotten Truss? I think she had a far bigger impact.

Remind me. How long have they been in power?

Never seen this guy before, but just another lying 'Tory to despise.

Albo, the internet isn't the problem. Men are the problem. You, as yet another white male PM, are the problem. We should have had years of PM Gillard, Penny Wong should be PM. We are in a society run by men for men, and men don't want that to change. Ever.

@anathema_device another manic day here. And funnily enough (not "ha, ha") I've had a terrible day hay fever wise. I'm supposed to go to the hospital for a blood test to try to identify exactly what I'm allergic to. They have a walk-in system for this type of blood test. Couldn't get anywhere near the car parks. Totally full and people queuing in selfish/thoughtless ways, so I gave up. Will try again tomorrow. I'm having a camera shoved up my nose tomorrow so that will be fun... (not!) Hah!

Kate Andrews was offered a platform, yet again, by the BBC this time on ‘Any Questions’ in the episode released 26 April.

She states “Economic growth is a fantastic thing… you get to spend that money after you deliver the growth, not before…” And sadly, the audience applauds. (Approx' 22 min)

I wonder if she believes the things she says. Though I have to admit, to the ill-informed, she may well have sounded very reasonable in this episode.

Okay, I’m back. Sort of. I’m suffering from back pain from hell, so touching grass is almost impossible right now, but doomscrolling has lost a lot of its appeal even with just a few days off.

You’ll probably see fewer posts from me. I’ve decided reposts are probably not worth it since I figure most people have them turned off.

I really don’t know why I’m telling you all this since I’m not a train and you don’t need to know my schedule :)

TalktoBeverley,
@TalktoBeverley@mas.to avatar

@anathema_device yes, yes I do... (need your schedule.)

And I'm so sorry to hear about your back pain. Does it happen often? Do you have a diagnosis or did you have an accident?

I've had prob's more than once. On one occasion it was due to the design of the car seat (I was regularly doing 4 hr round trips - caring responsibilities.) A doc' who knew his stuff told me to get a cushion and how to adjust it. It was like magic! Cured. Though I did get rid of the car when I could.🤗Be well soon

TalktoBeverley,
@TalktoBeverley@mas.to avatar

@anathema_device so sorry... It's awful I know.

I was lucky enough to find a brilliant osteopath who helped me after I'd been absent from work for 10 months. I'd lost all hope and he fixed me in one session. Sheer luck. Right person, right time. I often think that was my 'lottery win'.

I hope you get some relief soon. :blobcatheart: 🤗
