I hope my post doesn't come across as mean, but I'm noticing more and more people in my timeline following political situations and wars (even if they're not directly affected).

The current world situation is rough, really rough.

But constantly doomscrolling and consuming these contents will only bring you down. Set filters, avoid reading the news about it, unfollow people who constantly post about it - it has helped me tremendously to find inner peace again on these topics.

@revengeday During Covid I fell hard into the doomscrolling rabbit hole and it was terrible for my mental health. I've been committed about tailoring my feed to avoid that same situation ever since. Being informed is important, but there's a line between being informed and being strung out.

Weirdaholic,

@revengeday Focusing less on US-politics and more on the stuff that matter most to me has helped me taking action.

This doesn't mean, that I don't care about everything else, though. It just means that I decided to be less distracted by those simulations of "debates" and by the things I literally cannot change right now.

@Weirdaholic I also care about all of this, but consuming news and opinions about the situation almost 24/7 is not healthy.

@revengeday Nah, don't worry about coming across as mean. That's just the healthy thing to do. I'm constantly telling my wife to do the same as all that is happening around us is overwhelming. No need to dig yourself into your own misery.

@dm That's right, we can't change the current global situation.

@revengeday you've reminded me I need to add a few more filters to my list. It's so easy to slip into 'the news' and all that brings... and before you know it you're hooked again.

@nigelharpur Put on some filters and enjoy some peace and quiet :)
