@sean Could part of it be the fact that because Mac is ARM, you end up emulating amd64 for just about every image unless you're actually deploying to ARM? I know that the reverse (emulating ARM on amd64) is hugely slow...

@mwop I don’t think it was a technical reason. Could be wrong; fuzzy memory. Thought they did something (in addition to cash grab) to spite us. 🤷‍♂️

Also, I run amd64 docker (via colima) on my M2 (arm), and it definitely doesn't seem any worse than on my last Intel Mac.

@sean My usual "tech drama in the past few years" trick is to stick a good search term in HN and sort by popularity.

I'd love to sort by time with a popularity floor to watch sentiment over time, but that seems like maybe extra clicks.
