@christianselig had this same thing happen on my MX Vertical (almost 5 years old though). Bought a Lift as a replacement, really like it but I bought a case on Amazon for travel 😂 I’m trying to avoid the same fate
@christianselig This was a very timely post! My 6+ year old MS mouse’s back button keeps triggering whenever I brush against it. Definitely going to check this one out.
@christianselig my lift mouse started doing the same thing in the last couple of weeks! After a couple of days it got a bit better (not sure why). Thinking of taking it apart, but there are a metric ton of screws to get to the switch.
@kf Trackballs feel weird to me in that you're lying your hand flat again with most of them which never has felt ergonomic to me, and the side tilted ones put so much work into just your thumb which also sounds a bit strange
@christianselig The thumb style are all bad IMO for that reason — my thumbs would be dead b/w that and my phone. I love those like Adept or Kensington Slimblade, though I use them with my wrist more rotated outward, so it’s not as flat as you may imagine. I think folks looking for something more ergonomic lean towards the Classic, oftentimes with a 3D printed wedge for more tilt.
Also, I use a button to toggle scrolling, which is much nicer than any wheel.
@christianselig This seems like a common issue with the switches used in Logitech stuff, and has been for a long time.
Around a decade ago when I was using a Logitech Marble Mouse trackball as my main mouse, one or both of the buttons would consistently develop similar issues with time. I think I went through at least three of those things. Haven't had problems since switching to other manufacturers.
@johnwells I have an MX Vertical as well and it's been going pretty strong for me, I'm willing to write this off as just unlucky, but two would be unfortunate haha
@macmanx I have one of those too! I lean toward the Lift because I like the size better, I don't have the biggest hands so it's just a smidge more comfortable, plus I like the white
@christianselig one of these days I’ll give a more expensive vertical mouse a go. I tried a cheap one years ago and had to tense my wrist too much to keep it steady to click, it was likely due to it being cheap vs a vertical mouse thing but it scared me off for a while.
@christianselig If you can open it up, putting a some isopropyl alcohol or a tiny amount of WD40 into the affected switch and clicking it a few times might fix it.
@christianselig@fi get a can of contact cleaner and squirt a bunch in and click while it dries. It’s basically just alcohol and dries pretty quickly so there’s not much worry about hurting anything in there.
