On the one hand, Danielle Smith is timing the re-instatement of the Provincial Fuel Tax at the same time that the Carbon Tax is raised, so she can blame all price increases on the Federal government instead of the Provincial government.

What is most disturbing of all however, is the fact that the CPC and the UCP are constantly telling us that multi-billion dollar oil corporations should not pay their own taxes, but should pass the buck to us and make us consumers pay their taxes for them!! /1

Formula 1 chief appalled to find team using Excel to manage 20,000 car parts

Williams team leader may only be shocked because he hasn't worked IT.

@arstechnica I'm baffled by the idea that "the solution to the problem of Excel is The Cloud."

A simple relational database (MariaDB or PostGres) would be an ideal solution, and could be easily matched to a shiny front-end.

In other words, Cloud isn't a solution, it's a mechanism.

J.K. Rowling also writes under a pen name of "Robert Galbraith", publishing over half a dozen titles under that name, most of which have TV adaptations.

Robert Galbraith Heath was the American Psychiatrist who pioneered Gay Conversion Therapy to convert homosexuals through electro-shock therapy.

On January 24, 1984, Macintosh computers were introduced by Apple. Happy Birthday 🎂 Today, Mac is one of the few certified #Unix machines you can buy easily. Do you use a Mac?

swordgeek,
@swordgeek@mstdn.ca avatar

@nixCraft I use a Mac at work. I hate it. Even though it has a lovely (mostly) command line that I do much of my work from, I would still MUCH rather have a Windows machine. (and probably a Linux VM on it.)

The hardware is great. The Unix underpinnings are great. The user interface is still stuck in 1984.

    The American Heritage Children's Dictionary, Webster's Dictionary for Students, and Merriam-Webster's Elementary Dictionary are being pulled from Florida school libraries under Governor DeSantis's "Don't Say Gay" laws.

    And I must once again remind all Albertans that Premier Danielle Smith says she greatly admires Governor DeSantis and wants Alberta to follow his lead.

    swordgeek,
    @swordgeek@mstdn.ca avatar

    @ned I like to think that the school district in question is actually trying to draw attention to the issue, rather than rolling over and quietly removing books based on complaints.

    So I said, "What the entire fuck".

    That implies the existence of fractional fucks. It's better to say, "what the absolute fuck".

    That would imply the existence of positive and negative fucks.

    How about "what the actual fuck"?

    That depends if you'd consider the possibility of imaginary fucks.

    One must therefore conclude fuckery is isomorphic with the complex field.
