    @chris Sounds more like they’re both operating on the same channel than necessarily an Apple thing. Is there a difference if you switch WiFi off? Obviously not a solution, but that will rule out congestion on the channel.

    @chris Huh, could be the keyboard then? I’ve never had the issue with headphones before, but I have had a keyboard render any mouse useless just because it was basically dominating the frequency.

    So you write a company to get tech support for a feature you hope exists. Tech support responds promptly and informs you such a feature does not in fact exist. Then later you get a request asking you to rate the support you got.

    Do you give them ★★★★★ because they answered your question quickly and clearly or ★☆☆☆☆ because they didn’t actually help resolve your problem/request? Or perhaps something in between?

    macmanx,

    So what would it look like if Apple made a guitar pedal?😀

    Based on what the DOJ have to say and how Apple normally does things, it might be something like this?

    1. Apple pedal only works with Apple guitar.
    2. It will not work in a rack with competitor HW and SW from Roland, Yamaha or Fender.
    3. Will only integrate well into Garageband.
    4. Will require Bluetooth connection with an iPhone and iWatch to work.

    Am I right?🙃

    @macmanx@vivaldi.net avatar

    @jon 🤔 Apple does make a guitar pedal (and more) though: https://www.apple.com/mainstage/

    "Each younger generation is about twice as likely as the previous generation to identify as LGBTQ+, and more than one in five Gen Z adults — age 18 to 23 during the data collection period — identify as LGBTQ+."

    Interesting. Microsoft seems to be mimicking aspects of the visionOS UI—multiple light sources, a slight dimensionality to the edges—even though this isn't a visionOS app.

    I don't know if any pundits have officially named the visionOS aesthetic as one of 2024's top UI design fads, but I have a suspicion it's going to be.

    macmanx,
    @macmanx@vivaldi.net avatar

    @csilverman Considering it only came out a month ago, and Siri still lacks anything like this, I’ve been wondering if Microsoft designed it VisionOS-first, despite it not having a VisionOS app … yet.

    So, with all the unfortunate news about redirecting folks from to focus on , amidst layoffs as well, I'd like to point out that @Vivaldi is not integrating AI in the foreseeable future: https://vivaldi.com/blog/technology/vivaldi-wont-allow-a-machine-to-lie-to-you/

    And, I say this as someone who used and swore by Firefox since it was known as Phoenix. Over the past year, I've gotten to know Vivaldi, and it's now my daily driver.

    macmanx,
    @macmanx@vivaldi.net avatar

    @timelordiroh @Vivaldi A few years ago, I’d agree with you, but the web seems to be moving towards a browser monoculture in an unstoppable way.

    As far as browser engines go, the choices are Safari (Apple-only), Firefox (now losing even more contributors), and an endless sea of Chromium browsers.

    And, within that endless sea, Vivaldi stands out as the best for both being un-Googled Chromium and just focusing on being a good browser first.

    (I am aware of much smaller Gecko-based browsers, but with even Firefox losing contributors, I regrettably can’t see them holding on much longer.)

    macmanx,
    @macmanx@vivaldi.net avatar

    @zef @timelordiroh @Vivaldi Yeah, definitely referring to that. There are ... conflicting reports across reputable orgs that Mozilla is either keeping the Firefox and AI team or that and relocating some of the Firefox team to AI.

    I should be clear, I'm not a journalist by any means. I'm just an almost-30-year veteran of the browser wars and fan of Mozilla since it was Netscape who made a toot and got boosted by the browser I recommended. 😅
