This object was donated by Harvey Smith. It is credited Gift of Harvey Smith. Its dimensions are H x W: 170.5 x 57 cm (67 1/8 x 22 7/16in.) It is inscribed Printed in right selvedge: Reg'd No. 550982 (partially illegible on CHSDM piece).

It is a part of the Wallcoverings department. It is credited Gift of Bruce Bradbury. Its dimensions are 75 x 56 cm (29 1/2 x 22 1/16 in.) It is inscribed Printed in top selvedge: Handprinted by Bradbury & Bradbury Wallpapers, Benicia, CA, ©1982; printed in bottom selvedge: Peacock, Adopted by John Burrows from a design by Waler Crane.
This is a Sidewall. It is dated 1896 and we acquired it in 1938. Its medium is machine-printed paper. It is a part of the Wallcoverings department. Design of peacocks and poppies which conjure images of formal landscaped gardens with brightly colored peacocks strutting about, showing off their plumage. The use of peacocks were popularized by Oscar Wilde and the Aesthetic Movement in the late nineteenth century. The slight bleeding of the high-speed printing works to this design’s advantage, creating a more organic feel. This object was donated by Grace Lincoln Temple. It is credited Gift of Grace Lincoln Temple. Its dimensions are H x W: 105 x 56 cm (41 5/16 x 22 1/16 in.) It is inscribed Printed in right selvedge: "THE PEACOCK RD Nº 276170 ALSO FOR FABRICS".
