From the top of the web page where you can view the recent EU DMA compliance feedback session, much of which concerns itself with browser choice in iOS: https://webcast.ec.europa.eu/compliance-with-the-dma-apple-2024-03-18

illustro,

@siracusa needs to be viewed in landscape as opposed to portrait unfortunately...without having looked at the code I would guess someone coded a fixed height for that paragraph (given the difference between portrait and landscape on the phone)

@siracusa I wonder if they were getting “ERR_NETWORK_CHANGED”

@siracusa Is that statement wrong?

@siracusa I’m not sure if I think that’s an argument FOR browser choice as it gives people an option not to use a broken browser or if that’s an example of why Safari is a reasonable default/only browser because it works when others don’t. 😀

@DavidAnson @siracusa This might be the first I’ve heard someone say Safari works when others don’t. I’m so used to people solving issues by opening something in Chrome and it working 😝

@matt @siracusa I only ever use Safari on Mac and iOS and everything works fine. Even for developer scenarios, the browser tools are more than adequate.

andynormancx,

@DavidAnson @matt @siracusa there are still a few places where people don’t support Safari. A great example is all the admin side of Salesforce. Because of the way Safari handles frames and cookies now they just don’t work on Safari at all (will be interesting to see if that changes when Chrome makes similar changes this year). And I still come across at least a couple of websites a year where the developer has managed to make a form unfillable for one reason or another on Safari.

@andynormancx @DavidAnson @matt @siracusa I was surprised by that too - I see Safari fail all the time too - but reaching for Chrome isn’t the only way. Firefox has always filled any gaps for me. Brave is great when I want to shut off all the things. 😏

blitter,

@siracusa And isn't it ironic,

don't you think?
