@TWiT@robpegoraro loved this TWIT episode, especially @cathygellis commenting on the #TikTok ban (calling it "unredeemable garbage"). Even though @briannawu seemed to poopoo her point without any counterpoint other than "that's not how politics works." There's no proof the Chinese government has used TikTok has used data from the app to impact political discorse, BUT FACEBOOK HAS...and Congress has done nothing. How soon we forget cambridge analytica?
@TWiT@robpegoraro@cathygellis@briannawu this isn't a "national security issue", it's a "TikTok has moved US citizens to action over Palestine" issue. TikTok in particular has shown people what genocide looks like first hand, and the US government (both Republicans and Democrats) don't like they can't control the narrative on that issue. This is more about #Gaza, than it is about national security.
