theogrin, "YOU KNOW," said the skeleton standing in front of the protagonist. "IT'S RARE TO HAVE AN ACTUAL CHOICE."
"After my life, I believe I understand that better than most. There's never just one person standing in front of you, demanding you make the 'right' one. It's a thousand people clamoring for your attention in every part of your brain." The protagonist shook her head. "And not a one of them ask what you think, or how you feel."
"AND HOW DO YOU FEEL?"
"Well, among other things... I kind of feel like I'd prefer a chance to have a life without a thousand people telling me what I NEED to do. So no, I'm not done yet. Not by a long shot."
"AND WHAT WILL YOU DO NEXT?"
The protagonist shook her head again, and smiled, and tossed her hair. "You know? I have no idea."
And as she stepped away from the Abyss and the Place Between Lives, she quipped,
"And I hope nobody else does, either."
