Has StackOverflow jumped the shark ? I have a bro, he works for a scientific institution, he's a really good coder/mathematician and a bit on the "OCD side for PRECISION" and such. He made a number of scientific publications so "he knows how to write/expose things" plus he often teaches stuff too. When he exposes "this is the problem, that's what I need" he's VERY clear".. so .. he put a few questions on Stack Overflow .. the last one was "does it exist a C++ library to write CONT.

CONT. a text in LaTeX" ? .. Well .. apparently today he got this "You can't post new questions right now. Sorry we are no longer accepting questions from your account because most of your questions need improvement or are out of scope for this site." Now I know quite a bit of stuff he's working on, most of the time he asks me FIRST and "they are really serious code problems" and we try to work them out, recently he found "a strange bug" with callbacks in GLFW Linux I think we could not CONT.

CONT. work it out, "it did not make much sense" I am sure he tried to ask StackOverflow to no avail - presenting bits of code and explaining the problem he found - now "if that's not what SO is for and his questions 'are not good' so WHAT IS SO for ?" .. or nowadays the answer to all that is "ask ChatGTP" .. which HE DOES but it's NOT "a miracle answer for all" you still need PEOPLE ! .. I am quite surprised actually but not that much, it's been countless times I had bugs I had to work CONT.

CONT. completely my own cause search as I tried I could not find any answer and sometime even worse, reporting bugs found AND FIXES to "the people that should care" and getting ABSOLUTELY NO ANSWERS WHATSOEVER ! So yeah must said "I am very surprised" to see that kind of "response" from Stack Overflow .. SOME, NOT me, people I heard saying a while ago that "SO is practically useless" .. what's your opinion on that ? In the past IIRC it was GOOD I had positive experiences from it.

@gilesgoat I have positive experiences from SO, but I don't know the C++ community. "Is there a library for..." questions are off topic but maybe this wasn't explained very clearly. I had the same issue to begin with, if you don't know how questions should be asked it can come across as unhelpful.

@georgemsavva That last one I don't know, also must be said LAST time I EVER used SO to ASK for something wa s MANY years ago so I really don't know how is today. Why a question like "Is there a lib for ?" should be "off topic ?" .. I mean it's not that it goes to "destroy dunno what" to ask anything like that ? And where should you ask anything like that if not in a "coding community" ?
