This is interesting, from an interview on Anderson Cooper last night, quoting an Israeli reserve officer:
" ... that the orders are basically, from the commanders on the ground, just shoot every man of fighting age"
Which chimes with Yoav Gallant's statement at the beginning of the genocide:

@MadeyeTheCarnaptious It's not a "defence" force. It's an occupation force. Licenced for genocide and summary execution, whether it be of Palestinian civilians, aid workers, journalists or medical professionals.
@fkamiah17@MadeyeTheCarnaptious not even going for the easy "just following orders" cop-out answer, or are the higher-ups washing their hands, the Pontius Pilate way?
They're blaming "mission command" tactical autonomy, which is fine if it's being exercised by a professional army that operates within the Geneva Conventions and international humanitarian law. The problem here is the IDF is a murdering rabble that's out of control and allowed to operate with impunity not only by its own government but also by the US, UK and the rest.
@Wen@MadeyeTheCarnaptious The lies aren't even consistent. The trouble with making up excuses on the hoof is that they're quickly proved to be bullshit, and liars are notoriously incapable of keeping track of the lies they tell.
