visionOS is Apple's most locked-down general computing platform in history; the kinds of features Apple keeps for itself in the name of ‘privacy’ are absolutely going to cause massive antitrust issues if those restrictions are all still in place by the time the platform takes off (on this form factor, or another). Virtually every defining feature of the platform experience is already a red flag. Kinda wild that Apple, already aware of its obligations under the DMA, would design an OS like this
@stroughtonsmith Apple is a shareholder-first company. They’ll lock things down as much as they possibly can until they are forced to do anything different. “Ask forgiveness, not permission” as they say.

Wasn't the iPhone also completely locked up in its infancy?
I think it's just how Apple operates: they want to lock everything up both out of ridiculous taste for secrecy and out of habit.
It's only begrudgingly that they ever open up anything: either through legal force (e.g. DMA) or market forces (competing products).
@asiergmorato the EU doesn't decide whether iPad counts until the end of the year. I expect it will count, because it's inextricably linked to iPhone and iPhone apps
@stroughtonsmith which is why I am always asking myself now, will I ever get one when they are available in the UK? I see no point currently . It might be a cool gadget to have a demo on
