Last night my boyfriend showed me a TikTok of a young woman pretending to get upset over someone putting a bunch of colored blocks -- squares, triangles, arches -- all through the same square hole. You've probably seen it.

And he was making a point about social conformity, amongst other things, but I became viscerally upset and was crying on the woman's behalf even knowing she was acting and it was kind of a dumb joke, which I felt a little embarrassed about afterwards.

@gwynnion yeah, there was a whole recap/saga video culminating in her standing in a square hole at the beach

And you know, I've had a bad week and that's part of it.

And while I'm not an Empath or anything, I make a habit of imagining myself in someone else's shoes.

Even make-believe can affect me this way. I still cry hearing certain songs or thinking about certain children's books.

And I realize I have an extremely low nervous threshold. Being upset or seeing someone else being upset, especially angry, sends me into maximum flight or fight mode because of my childhood.

Be thankful you aren't an empath. Yeah, I know the emotional state of those around me, but it also bleeds into my own emotional state. Thing is one doesn't know why they are feeling that way. Crowds can be excruciating.

Oh, the sex may make up for all the hassle. Instant feedback on what is and isn't working.
